i hope i'll find some spare time to participate.. i think i go for Good, i'd like to create a chick that is kind of a thief who steals from rich Evil people and devides the swag among poor people. just like Robin Hood instead she is a pure sexy chick.
i'm not sure yet if i'll draw anything in 2d, but to have some taste of my intentions: my inspiration comes from Leila from the anime D the Vampire Hunter, Leah from Diablo 3, and Julia Saner

xxxcubanxxx thx mate! you should join too! i enjoy this theme a lot, so it would be great to see what others come up with

so, i couldn't decide which direction should i start, i had 2-3 ideas in my mind where i could place my character in time. maybe middle ages, something more high tech futuristic or just a batman kinda like character in the present with a similar armor or something. but then i bumped into some screenshots of assasin's creed brotherhood and then i felt like i'd like to create a character from the italian renaissance world. and so i'll go for something like that.
here is where i am with the concept, nothing special and i think she might need a hood too, coz that way she'd look more thief-like and less like a pirate (btw, now i feel like her hands seem way too big too)
maybe i'll draw some scetches about differend hairstiles or with her wearing a hood on her head. her face should be seeable though coz that innocent pretty face will tell us that she is "Good" :P

Looking good there tsabszy. Yes the hands look way 2 big and something weird is happening with the legs but I can't quite figure it out lol.

Maybe u could stick half an Italian carnival mask thing on her to show the good and bad?

yes i agree.. i was not really satisfied with the legs either :D but i couldn't solve it as i'm not a good drawer. so maybe it's gonna stay that way, i don't want to spend too much time with this project :)

edit: and besides the legs, her mons pubis looks quite strange too :(

well, i think i'm done with concepting/scetching
mask would be a great idea, but i'd like to practice creating woman faces coz that's kind of the hardest for me, and that's what i've had the least oportunity to do. i think if her face looks innocent, then she'll become "Good" enough

I think the issue with the legs is coming from the twist of the feet. The toes point to the side, but the knee is still straight ahead. Not to worry, you can fix that in the model.

BIG TOE that's right! and also her left leg was broken too (with her thighs not being parallel to her lower legs) on the 1st wip. tried to improve it a little with turning the boots top to the right direction and changing the silhouette a bit, but it's still awkward a bit. i'm affraid the concept is going to stay as it is now :P

model is at 60-70%
i'm not sure about the hood, maybe i'll change it a bit so her face could be recognizable more easaly, now she kinda looks too "shady" and that would kill the Good aspect of the character. but i'm not sure yet, i'll see about that when i'll have time to work on it again
my other problem is now that i might have to drop some asymmetry later, coz there's too many, which looks good, but i wont be able to get the texel detail i want still 1024 texture is not much if you can't overlap many things :(
(i'll do only diffuse texture, since creating high poly would consume too much time)

as i was afraid the textures won't be too crispy :( i tried to keep as many asymetrical element as i could and ovelrap on the uv at the same time, but for a close to real, kind of idealized style what i aim for with 1k textures it's not enough unfortunately. it would be cool with more stylised more cartoony look, but that's not what i'd like to do now :P
nothing interesting to show yet, i've just started the textures.. everything is hand painted, no textures are used

some update on her face.. now she does look sort of neutral who wont harm anyone. i hope that covers "Good" :P

i have difficulty with drawing these textures look like if they were "geometry"
i mean everything i draw looks quite flat and plain. i hope i'll figure out how to solve this.

astroAJ im not sure if she looks unnaturally thin (?) although my intentions were to make her look really thin and tall to avoid her looking like a warrior. she's merely a thief who steals for good

well it seems like i can't meet the deadline
i've only have a very little time on my last two weekends coz i had to accomodate a friend so that's it. and i haven't been abe to work much on workdays either. i'll finish this work within a few days if i can, but i'm not sure how long will it take..

nothing fancy to show, i was done with the setup of the character, a pose for the winning shot and about the 70% of the texture work til last weekend.
now the texture is at 80-90% plus i'd still like to create a pedestal before i call it finish.

i know strong dof gives it a macro feel, but i like her face so i played with marmoset a bit, hope you like it!

tbh this work was an attempt to practice hand drawn textures, i've experimented a lot while making it. although i couldn't figure out a method that suits me well, to draw a texture directly onto the model and so i painted 90% of it in photoshop in 2d, the old fashioned way.
i've just found a way of projection texturing method few days ago that works for me so i'll try to use that technique next time..

although it's far from anything in wow, or allods online, but i will keep trying :) maybe i'll be able to improve myself.. at least that's what i aim for..
