View Full Version : Cael - Good vs Evil
Starting as a place holder.
My idea was to do a future-ish foot soldier kind of thing.
I haven't decided whether I want him to be Good or Evil. I figure that will all come down to the texturing. Clearly defining his alignment. leaning on good though.
Since the contest thread said every day type of character I was thinking like in a game when attacked by a mob just the average enemy nothing big and bulky just cannon fodder.
Looking forward to participating.
I've drawn up some ideas. I'll try to get them up here soon.

don't you like using 3ds max's built in topology tools? graphite modeling tools -> freeform?
To be honest I haven't tried them. Old habits die hard and I've been using max retopo for a while. I'll check out the graphite modeling tools. Always lookng for ways to improve my work flow.
finished up the base topology for the undersuit. Time to add Mech and armor bits.

i don't say graphite modelling is better, coz i haven't use retopo and freeform can be buggy sometimes :P btw is retopo free?
keep it up! the arms seem a bit too thin i think
I wanted to go for a kind of scrawnier looking character that's why the arms are like that. I still have to play around with it a bit. and yeah max retopo is free. Right here: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/max-retopo

if you like max-retopo you'll probably orgasm when you try wrapit
its basically max-retopo squared. very cheap too
thanks man thats awesome. I've seen wrapit before but I just took a second look. I'll probably grab it when I've got some spending money.
Did a paint over and an update on the armour.

Still have a few bits of armour to add. I unwrapped the body to see how Uv mapping and symmetry work together. I'll probably end up doing a diffuse pass before I take it into Zbrush just in case I don't get enough time cause I'm moving at the end of the month.

Really hoping to at least finish even if it's not beautiful. Finished modeling for the most part and started UV'ing

Going to try to hand paint all the textures. New process for me but could be fun.
I added some stuff and almost finished UV'ing
