In my 3D class we are doing our first modeling project. We had to pick an industrial object, and I chose my phone. No using any image mapping. How would you guys recommend modeling this? I'm using Maya 5 by the way.

I would do it with polymodelling. :*poly:

I tried to start it with poly as well as NURBS...but I had a lot of trouble getting the curves accurately in poly. Any tips/suggestions? I'm obviously a n00b... ;)
The way my teacher is recommending is using lofted curves...but it's been a pain in the ass so far.
I'm only doing a still of the phone closed, so he also recommended making the top half an object, and the bottom half another object. With what I have so far, it doesn't line up right any way. Here's what I've got with lofted curves so far. Once again, any tips or suggestions for making this look as realistic as possible would be much appreciated. This is my first modeling:

that's pretty challenging for a first model
