Stylized Challenge #01 - Dragons Final Enteries & Voting

Please submit your final entries for this challenge and once the challenge has ended on 11.59 Sunday 22nd will you then please vote for your top 3 favourites.

You will have until Monday 23rd to Friday 27th January to vote.

The voting system is 3 Points for 1st place, 2 Points for 2nd place & 1 Point for 3rd place.

The points will be added up and the winners & runner ups will be announced.

I used Maya 2012 and rendered with Mental ray toon and contour rendering.
I enjoyed the challenge and look forward to seeing everyone else’s work. :dance:

3 points for kogen (the most original dragon here and it has the most character of all. realy great job :))
2 pooints for xxxcubanxxx (another original take on hte dragon that just cant be missed :))
1 point for wil_himura. (the third but not the worst one. it has the caracter and it makes me smile :))

It was hard to decide the order of the next three:

1st Kogen, although I don't like the face, in my opinion, all the magic gets lost in those eyebrows, his work from the concept to the end of the challenge is amazing and worth 3 points. Needless to say, he matched the subject really well.

2nd xxxcubanxxx, I'd have chosen another head for this model, the eyes are to say a lot in a stylized character, but the work behind this entry being realtime and all is outstanding. Really nice silouete and quite close to the subject aswell.

3rd paulius-st, I really thing his entry reflects the subject, it's a dragon although it needs some help to fly hehe and it's stylized and cartoony. It would be higher ranked if he could have invested more time in posing and texturing.

Special mention to Jusslic, great presentation, nice concept also quite close to the subject. But the entry itself is not saying enough to me.

Respect to all the participants, just had to pick 3!!! :S

This was a hard choice for me:

3 Points: wil_himura: Because I love the idea merging such a kind of dog with a dragon and the detailing is pretty nice as well.
2 Points: xxxcubanxxx: Great idea, a dragon as a fire-fighter with a little YMCA feeling, great idea, great accomplishment.
1 Point: Jussslic: The dragon is soooo stylish I like the detailing the lighting and the final render.

OK, pretty tough to decide, but here we go:

1. xxxcubanxxx - I just love the idea of calling in dragons to fight fires--GREAT idea. And the execution is pretty much spot on too :drool:

2. Kogen - I think your concept has more personality than anything else in the competition, but like others have mentioned, I'm not completely sold on the face. Looking at characters like Rapunzel, or this image I just dug up in the cartoon gallery (http://www.3dtotal.com/index_gallery_detailed2.php?id=4517&cat=cartoon), female faces tend to have really soft features... Maybe a bit of smoothing would help? Otherwise, it's a really awesome entry.

3. astroAJ - I really like your final composition, pose, and presentation. It's cool that you played around with toon rendering, and I have no idea how you made those clouds :D

Great job all around.

wil_himura - probably my first runner up, but it was a really tough choice. Your detailing is awesome, and the concept is really nice, but overall I liked Astro's final composition a tiny bit more.
Genggi - Your lighting is pretty awesome! is that all BPR passes?
paulius - I really like your concept--wish you would have had time to pose him

Lot's of interesting stuff on this one, quite rich in styles and originality in a cartoon mood, nice works. Lot's of good ideas.
