I want to get into the habit of recording everything I do, possibly making tutorials but I can't seem to get it working :wall:... I've tried using camstudio, camtasia, etc... but every time my recording gets over like 5 minutes it crashes and corrupts everything. How is it that Fraps can record 60fps full resolution games with no problems but these screen capture programs crap out even when recording 5fps over a period of time??

Anyone know how to do this properly?

Thanks

snagit is a good program for screen capturing.
Depending on your computer performance you might stop the recording once in a while and save the footage and then continue an other record and then when your done stitch them all togheter.

never had issues with camstudio/camtasia

trouble you get is disk space probably but that too depends on the codec you're using to make the captured video in. Xvid works wonderful.

Kind of an odd alternative, but windows media encoder 9 (which microsoft may or may not offer anymore) had a great screen capturing feature. A little tricky to setup at first, but I just saved my setup so I don't have to go through the hassle. Never had a problem with it.

Then again, the last time I used camtasia was a few years ago and it has likely changed since then.
