Good Morning @all,
every 3D Software has its own advantages and disadvantages - i know that.
I´m dissatisfied with modo´s poor Handling of larger scenes. (i´ve been happy with most other things in modo which is not perfect like other software too)
Which Software has a better Polygon Handling? Maya, XSI Softimage?
Anyone here who use one or both?

I'm not an expert at this but from what I hear; XSI seems to be the strongest when it comes to polygon limits and handling.
I would have to say that Maya seems to be the weakest, when it comes to polygon limits in general... though Maya's viewport 2.0 on my computer can handle 3.5mill polys with ease, but is still buggy.
If ur switching over to xsi, remember that the user community is smaller and there may not be as many resources out there for xsi :)
Whatever program u use, if ur working on a super large scene, take the time to delete unwanted faces, and put objects in layers and render passes. U can do a lot with a little if u spend the time to organise everything.

You´re right about not needed polygons and organisation!
A solution (in Modo) where to use a lot of disp maps to handle bigger scenes in the viewport - i know there are not many differences about rendertime but i have the slow viewport problem with much poly´s in modo...this is a fun and workflow killer!
3.5million polys in Maya isn´t much - I never would have guessed.
The "problem" is:lurve: i want not use many disp maps as necessary because i want polygon modelling and use dispmaps (normals, bump etc.) for objects that are not close to the camera or the need of some highfrequency details with that.
Big Thx. for your answer astroAJ!

Maya is a trainwreck, Max works properly
IMO etc.
I don't kow soft very well at all but given the userbase is so small i wouldnt bother
