I don't think that his head is too big but maybe his lower arms are to long for my eye..

Nope ;)
I'm trying stylished so i'm going by eye and feel
Yeah long arms but they go with the long body and legs.......might pull the hands up a bit so than go in his pants pockets if he had any (fair point thx)
Ps will use reference when i'll start painting the tatts :)

If you lengthen the legs a bit you won't need to touch the arms

yea i like big toes idea about the legs. i think that would look pretty good. like the style your doing him in very interesting.

legs it is :D
-lengthened the legs
-changed the boots that looked like mailman socks.
-changed the gloves that looked like transalvanian transvestite gloves into just handgloves with arm protectectors with padding on the arm.
next maybe build him some triple spy droids from the movie.....unwrap the lot and start painting.
can reduce a heap of polies......but i'm no where near the limit so i'm gonna be lazy ;) and leave all the waiste and arm wrapping
hhmmm and than pedestal (hadn't thought about the pedestal at all)
enough bla bla and update pic.

Looks a lot better after the leg lengthening. Like the lightsaber as well, keep it up!

just one thing bothers me about your stylized piece, I am not a fan of your small knees, your elbows are bigger than your knees. If it were my model i would scale up the knees. Other than that it is a cool stylized model.
strict9
04-03-2012, 10:38 AM
agent x yeah the knees are small...but i kinda like it...makes the legs thin and the pants a bit more poofy.
uv mapped it and started painting.....just a first pass (still playing with colours, wanted a bit more than just black ;)

Lookin pretty slick dude. For some reason I want to say a little darker on the red, kinda looks pinkish to me a little bit. Might just be the render not sure, but keep it up!

lose the white specular, lose the white specular, lose the white specular, lose the white specular, lose the white specular, lose the white specular, lose the white specular, lose the white specular, lose the white specular, lose the white specular
either go lambert or fullbright. your style demands it

It's like poopipe is trying to tell me something, but i can't put my finger on it :D
I'll have a play with spec......I'm always having trouble with it (guess cus my "style" is wip as well) than baseplate......dun dun duuun (maybe some flying rocks)

had a play with render setting and found a button could energy (when camera selected).....and bang the normal map kicked in hard....it even pops out through the black (yay)
so i dropped the spec and it makes a heap of diff.
made a bigger render this time for the critics ;)
something wierd happening with the neck ...but thats cus of my sucky skills at rigging (will fix hopefully in the end)
okay picture time

what did you use to make your normal map? Are you sculpting, or just applying a smooth to the low poly? Right now, the normal map doesn't seem to be doing anything for the model.
You have plenty of time to play around with though, try new things, like remodeling the pants(hi poly) with tons of folds, etc.
Pose is good.

normal map is very subtle few lines in the ear and some sharp edges etc nothing big......but i am adjusting the pants with folds now so that will make a bit of a diff (i'm crappy at folds i noticed lol)
you all have to wait for a update because i added a few polies to the cloth (jacket) to make it a bit smoother and all of a sudden it doesnt move with the body anymore.
it settles fine on the shoulder until the body starts moving and it rips right through the jacket...i reset the cloth did all the pinning again and it keeps F.ng up, it's doing my head in....i have to wait 70 frames of render for the cloth to settle..... to see it keeps going wrong.
did read some where that i need to clear the cache to start fresh when changes are made to the cloth so i'll give that a go when i get home from work........Hope i dont have to restart the pose and reset everything in order to get the cloth to do what it is suppose to do.......****** finicky order of things..AAARgggg

given up on the jacket (cloth) so i made it part of the rig and manually adjusted where needed.
made a base.....and made another picture for progress and for the fans offcourse ;)

The lightsaber's color doesn't seem right. They are white on the blade and give off the colored glow of whatever color the color stone is for. (except the black ones from unleashed which are black on the inside and have a white glow). I love the stylized look your going for however the normal/bump map and your spec map are taking away from the feel of the character.

had a crack at toon shaders and practiced on a new model(a simple one to make out the differences when you make adjustmends to the material settings......and than played again with darth.
think he looks better (allthough the light saber needs some work)
other than that it was fun to work with but getting bored with it
refer below the test subject and offcourse darthy.
