Hi there.. not been on here for ages.. since dom war 2!

wow looks great :) is this sculpt complete?
27-03-2012, 07:14 PM
@ Jeebs : yeah pretty much, im goign to do a lowish poly version with diffuse only, some areas of the sculpt arnt surfaces great but thats because i intend to cover them with alpha polys in the final :)
~tsa thankyou, im really proud of it :)

Happy to see a fellow League player, this totally looks like the Wukong I know! No comments from me, except maybe that the fur of the body and tail could be defined a bit crisper. Can't wait to see the progress!
I'm doing Renekton, but for the Sculpting Challenge section. If you have the time take a look!
Thanks reg :)
yeah i agree totally about the fur, weakest bit
im turning this into a lowish poly difuse only char so i decided id move on and this will mostly be hand painted, however i may go back and polish it someday :)
29-03-2012, 01:18 PM
Very nice, sweet details :) Can't wait to see him handpainted !

I'm thinking you should do both, a diffuse only and a normal map version. So your high poly model doesn't go to waste.
ill be using the high poly to heavily assist in making my diffuse :)
i might set up my photoshop file to quickly do my diffuse only and then do the gen3 normal spec and diffuse version after... im just really loving and enjoying making diffuse only stuff right now :)
anyhow, just made my inital low poly pass, except its mid poly at around 5k... (erk)
ill continue to clean it up as i begin uving but for anyone interested here it is at this stage :)
might be sadistic and do a 5k / 2k version ill see how i feel as i start uving :P

looks solid to me :) keep it up

Just got off the LoL addiction and you post this!!!
Great job so far, can't wait for the finished product. (was a Leona/Orianna player myself)
Haha set... i weened myself off it awhile ago....
then decided to do a speed sculpt to get my lol fix...
this is the sculpt continued :)
i rather stupidly have re-addicted myself to Dota2 ... foolish foolish boy
in the off chance anyone find UV interesting.....
you can see the decisions ive made in mirroring by viewing the currently chopped up mesh :D
09-04-2012, 04:58 PM
uv loks neat too. what do you hold that gap at the right bottom for?
strip is there for some fur ill be adding to the top

Pretty solid bake, keep us updated
early days but i wanted to show an update
13-04-2012, 05:40 PM
Very nice painting!
righto going bed but another mini update
lookign quite dull right now, im just trying to get the shadows in really
i think (hope!) it will start to come alive when i start painting hilights and creating the metal surfaces
13-04-2012, 11:16 PM
Give me some color variations and it will be golden before the metal's specular. Wu Kong is a melee fighter and that means he gets down and dirty. Let's see some fading on the colors of his outfit, some light soiling on the sole of his boots, make me believe he is a champion in the league of legends!
sell it baby!
Great work so far!

the style of texture is great.
14-04-2012, 07:29 AM
love the colors :) great work!
14-04-2012, 01:41 PM
My favorite, great work. Looking forward on seeing it with the highlights.
Ahh thanks :)
im back to work now so progress will slow but ill get it done :D
this is for tsabszy benefit, just crudely added the alpha planes thought he might wanna see what the space at the bottom of my uvs is for :)
ive half of the space left so ill either up the texture res of what ive added or use it for monkey fur
started work on the metal, effort so far mainly in the silver.... depesperately wanted to crop this so u didnt see the crude, scary "omg i hope i can pull this off" stage of the gold.... but then i thought you might find it interesting and/or amusing lol
gonna learn a tonne doing this :)
*bit of a small update now i look at it...ill be quiet till i have a bigger one next time lol*

Very clean work and stylisation, looks great :) Only suggestion I would've made is to mirror some parts like the head to crank up texture res. Apart from that, awesome!
thanks :).... i ummed and arrred about the head, i wanted the hair to not be symmetricale and i didnt want a hairline seam so i decided on unique, ill just have to subtly add variance into the face to make it worth it for me :)
17-04-2012, 11:55 AM
what ever you did, he looks awesome
18-04-2012, 04:04 AM
Very nice clean work, keep going almost there :)
21-04-2012, 03:28 AM
Looking Really Good, Can't wait to see it finished :D
was strgggling with the gold, often looked wooden or muddy
ive actually over the last week worked on it, and scrapped it a few times
i took a break from it!!
in the end i found removing all colour and getting the value correct (ie paint silver) then makign it gold really helped me
i poured some mega hours in today and have finally pushed past the pain :D, felt it deserved an update
guys im considering this done!
i gotsta move on! :)
do i just post textures etc in this thread?
25-04-2012, 03:18 PM
it looks awsome!! great job! the only thing i don't like that mutch is the fur on his tails.
but really! well done!
25-04-2012, 03:47 PM

Inspired by Son of the storms?
nah its just my shot at trying to faithfully reproduce the concept :)
who are the sons of storm?
05-05-2012, 12:39 AM
I don't think anyone watches a Tony Jaa movie for the story. Ong Bak and Tom Yun Goon had pretty much the exact same plot, but the action is absolutely incredible!

who are the sons of storm?
Only a band of some of the greatest game art veterans alive!
Ok so that praise may be a little over the top, but they are awesome :D
Great finish to your work btw :)
