Hi

Im not good as you but i made a Low-Poly Muscle Car ;)
I didnt had any Blueprints so i made my own Muscle Car.
The Front looks a bit like a Buick

So here it is

http://mitglied.lycos.de/eofw/3dsmax/Game%20Video/muscle%20car.jpg

Here's a Link to a Flash Animation (http://mitglied.lycos.de/eofw/Flash%20Tests/Gallerie%20Muscle%20Car.html) I made with this Car to present it.

my mustang that i did awhile ago now. i posted it in another thread, hope that doesn't matter.
i have a few more muscle cars as wips, and if this thread stays alive long enough i will post them too.

I would rather have a muscle car than most of todays so called hot cars.

kingcobra, you are the man! I have saved all your cars so I can brighten up my monitor. Did I say I love muscle cars?

3Dan, I would love to see what you could do with that now.

_tofu, nice work. had a green 68 and a red 67

more, more....

Wow, miss a few days and it takes a few hours to catch up here at Threedy.

Goats, Stangs, Matchbox Chevelles, quite a collection starting here. Fond memories of all of these cars.

Great looking Chevelle kingcobra. We used to call them "matchbox" cars because it is one of the first of the toy matchbox cars produced. the Mach 1 looks awsome and so does the Pontiac. Firebird or Formula 400 (pretty much the same).

GTO, helped write the definition of "muscle car". Nice work Dan!

Isn't that the "boss" mustang body style? Anyways, great job tofu.

and a "whatchmacallit". Hey, months, probably years ahead of my car modeling skills.

Xclnt Monte Carlo. Like the red color a lot. Look fowrd to seeing it finished.

Afraid I can't help with tech crits, but keep up the good work. All of ya.:)

XLNT 3d: nice stuff too!

_tofu: cool mustang, post some of your wips renders!

....lets see..... SPEED CHANNEL SAYS: Dodge viper is a new American Muscle car.... so yea i am pretty sure.

hey! i think that you did not read the entire prhase!

"neo: mmmm, muscle car? are you sure? nice modeling anyway "

maybe you are right
http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/8357/51518

but i like to say that muscle car time was during the '60s

do whatever you want with your car thread, but i still thinking that you have a nice viper model.

LOL! Perhaps Muscle Car is a term unique to the US.

cbaristo
05-10-2003, 10:01 PM
mmm, i was searching at google, and i found this
musclecarclub.com (http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/musclecars.shtml)

I still thinking that the term is about a kain of american cars and about a date too

look at the timeline,
http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/general/musclecars-timeline.shtml
nice website, it looks to have a lot of cool information about cars.

maybe there is a new age of musclecars...

but this is my personal opinion and as radarhead says maybe i konw a little about this. But i dont care, im here to learn 3d not to discuss about car names.

this is another great model radarhead.

For good reference images of super-charged engines with blowers, do a search on google.com

I searched using "Blower Racing Engines" and came up with these sites.

http://www.larrywallaceengines.com/special.html

http://www.beckracingengines.com/SiteFrameSet.html

Most of these guys will probably supply you with photos and other images if you ask. Maybe offer to send them a rendering of your engine if you build it.

also after thinking...THANK GOD that there are still pepole out there that are crazy about muscle cars. I get so sick of poeple saying they are crap and slow and bad technology. Without those, they would'nt have their imports, and "sport compacts" as they are called. Big ole V8 power, no turbo or nothing, and still fast as hell!

cheers guys and keep it up!!!

simps
09-11-2003, 02:12 PM
simply put, anyone who really wants to go fast and make real power will turn to a V8.
Boys who want to put silly graphics and park bench spoilers on their cars turn to slow Honda's and other imports. They'll spend a ton of money to run14's and be proud!!! Silly riceboys.

Siris07
09-11-2003, 05:05 PM
There is a difference between "ricers" and the real "import enthusiasts" i guess you would call them. I myself own an Acura and there are many ricers out there with huge a$$ spoilers and 5inch exhaust tips that think they can beet v8s and stuff. Not all import people are like that. From my point of view, suping up a Honda, Acura, Toyota, Mitsubishi, or any of those cars, is more of a hobby than anything else. There's nothing more gratifying to a us import people than buying an import and fixing it up and beable to smoke corvettes, mustangs or anything else thrown at us with a motor that's at least half the size and all that. I do also like american muscle as well. Anyways enough about this, i dont want to start anything between anyone because thats not what this thread is about. Just thought that this would be a good time to put in my opinion. Thanks

Siris07
09-11-2003, 05:19 PM

kingcobra
09-11-2003, 06:02 PM
besides...I drive a nissan S14 daily...but I have had my share of musclecars...they just aren't very fuel efficient so we do what we have to do the get to work and pay the bills...and I love my nissan...and yes I do mods to it just as anyone who loves cars would...if I had enough money I would have a garage full of cars...musclecars, exotics, imports...and yes a few "ricers" ( if anyone here has seen the red HKS S15 you know what I'm talking about...that car is incredible)I play grand turismo 3 a lot and I only keep cars that I would love to own in real life...and they are all personalised to my tastes...and there are over 80 of them...lol so one isn't actually better than the other...yes japanese cars are more dependable than your basic dual 4 barrel, B&M supercharged, NOS injected sittin on 15" wide rear wheels 68 camaro....but then again they won't rattle the teeth of the neighbor 6 houses down from you when you fire it up in your driveway either...lol and thats just PART of the fun of owning ANY performance car. especially one that you put your heart and soul into building...and thats my 2 cents

x_wolf19
10-11-2003, 01:55 AM
I'll rephrase what may have sounded like a put down on imports. YES you can do insane stuff with them, just like a muscle car, but what I DO NOT like are the idiot kids that do the park bench spoilers and exhaust tips and think they are fast and stuff...thats just lame. Though do remember that when you make imports able to smoke corvettes and mustangs and the like, they are getting about the same gas mileage or worse at that point. LOL a 260 HP honda that gets 14 miles to the gallon. PLEASE. lol just seems funny to me. Anywho, im glad people like all sorts of different cars. Keep up the awsome 3D work!!

cheers

simps
10-11-2003, 02:06 PM
I do have respect for some imports. Supra's and RX7's are sweet. The Skyline is good performance wise (I don't dig the looks).

Evo's and WRX's are heading in the right direction. Not there yet though. I wouldn't buy them though. However I would buy an import for a daily grocery getter. Cheaper on gas.

It's the all bling and no zing that I can't stand. Ricer's have everything now. Aside from the usual junk, they now have fake Nitrous Purge kits and fake BOV audio sounds. You can sound like you have a turbo or juice. Just yesterday I saw a fake Euro style side exhaust. It's sold to look real but it just sticks to the side exterior of the car. You kind of have to blame the corporations, because they make all this junk knowing that the kids will buy it no matter how crappy it is. Of course you have to blame the kids for buying it. Wow, your whole car looks like it came from pep boys.

Siris07
10-11-2003, 05:21 PM
Simps, I'd have to agree with you on that. Them damn "riers" make all the import people look bad. Luckily there are still some of us out there that know whats going on with everything and realize that huge spoilers, huge rims, and decals, DONT make you go faster.

Siris07
10-11-2003, 05:28 PM
Simps, I'd have to agree with you on that. Them damn "riers" make all the import people look bad. Luckily there are still some of us out there that know whats going on with everything and realize that huge spoilers, huge rims, and decals, DONT make you go faster.:) If you notice though, it's more of the people who own the cheaper, lower model hondas, and acuras that usually have all that crap on their cars. You don't see too many supras and skylines and rx7s with all the crazy crap that gets put on the imports these days.

simps
10-11-2003, 08:55 PM
I agree Siris07. One of the sickest cars I ever saw was this RX7 that had been completly done up. Even had Mystic paint.
It was for sale, and if I had had the money I would have bought it on the spot.

kingcobra
10-11-2003, 10:59 PM
I find it hard to gather up any kind of respect for any Front wheel drive...500 horsepower or not...I just don't see the point...ooo...you can roast the FRONT tires...and stand still doing it....wow....and you are right...80% of the so called "performance" stuff in those import mags is just for looks...some of it I like...most of it I don't.

Bravo
10-11-2003, 11:35 PM
I agree with all that's being said here. I'm 14, and I am in highschool. Being in highschool, I see the ricers all over the school parking lot. I have been saving for a while already, and I plan on my first car being a 1971 Porsche 911. At school I hear all the kids with their Honda's and all the Japanese imports talking about their street racing. I have no problem with street racing-but frankly-the way they carry it out is quite stupid. Many of them have done no mod's whatsoever to their car that makes it faster. They put the "park bench spoilers" (i like that term) on, add the ground effects, and cool rims and say their car is fast. I plan on making my porsche fast as hell, but I'm not gonna be stupid about it. In my eyes, nowadays only the Europeans can truly craft cars. America had it going on in the vintage car days, and throughout the muscle car era-but I don't think we're so good at it now. And that's my two cents :)

sarN
10-11-2003, 11:52 PM
lol yeah i agree im 16 and one of my friends has this honda celica that he thinks is so pimped out
hes got a park bench spoiler lol, can barely see out the back window (how practical that is) the thing is front wheel drive and he ordered a raised hood scoop and and is getting the underbody lights too
me and all my friends still diss him anyway since he looks like hes 12 and wont get any girls anytime soon :p
i think muscle cars are definitely the coolest, but i also like big azz trucks :p
67 shelby cobra all the way :D
to me cars are sorta similar to motorcycles, all these japanese imports have that annoying lets sound like a chainsaw as we go flying down the road effect
harleys got the GET THE #(%& OUT OF MAH WAY sound where you hear it halfa mile down the road
and that is some sick modelling on those engines KC :D

Siris07
11-11-2003, 12:07 AM
I think you meant Honda civic Sarn. A stock import does not sound like a weed eater. It's very quiet. I think your getting confused with the "ricers" there, and that explains my point exactly as to how ricers make all import people look bad. I have a 92 integra with some mods on it. The only way you can tell its not stock is because it's lowered and has an exhaust ( a very expensive very nice and deep sounding exhaust). There are ones like that out there that don't sound like a weed eater for just a little more money. My whole point to all this is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with imports. They are very well made, last a long time, are very reliable, and respond very well to any kind of mods. For anyone who can't understand the point of modding up imports: It's a HOBBY. It's something people do in their spare time and have fun doing it. Yes it may cost a lot of money, but if its a hobby for people then they will spend what it takes. Others spend it more wisely on stuff that actually helps your performance and others dont. If people could understand what I just said, then I see no reason for people to like both imports and muscle cars for what they are (disregarding the "ricers") I dont mean to offend anyone in this:D
carry on everyone!

sarN
11-11-2003, 12:13 AM

x_wolf19
11-11-2003, 01:48 AM
cool then we all agree its the "ricer" image that gives it all a bad name.

The other problem I have, is there is a few guys around here that tune hondas. They have a 250 horse all engine B16 in a Civic. It beat my friends DSM (eclipse GST) but barely, and his car only has 220 horses, turboed. They say that they are building an all engine, 280 HP to the wheels car. Funny thing is, they wouldn't even let anyone see under the hood of the other car, wihch to me means they are either spraying, or have a supercharger, and are lying about it. otherwise why be so secretive? I'd be showin it off to everyone if I got it to have that much horsepower without any sort of power adder.

These guys say muscle cars, and V8s are crap, and they sohuld stop making them. They say corvettes are crap, mustangs are crap and just about every other fast stock car out there. Now im told they are boosting cars for parts and to sell.....They are morons. THAT is what gives it a bad name.

cheers guys!

thought i would add my two cents about the whole "ricer" thing. my biggest problem is the that a bunch of these kids play gran turismo and watch movies like fast and the furiouse and beleive that they know something about cars. i was at college and asked a kid in one of my classes why he had a huge spoiler on his accord and he actually told me that it was to help him controll his car when he pops wheelies. now i dont know everything about cars, but i do know that it is pretty damn diffcult to get the front wheels off the ground with a front wheel drive car. another problem with some of these people is that they think they can go fast with just adding horsepower. but you can have all the horsepower in the world but it wont do you any good if you cant keep it on the ground. i personally beleive that you can make an import quick but i think i would go about it a little different than some of the guys i see driving around my town. i would deffeantly prefer something witha v8 though.

The people that you guys are all talking about seems to explain my point exactly about ricers and their lack of knowledge about cars. The only time and reason you would need any kind of spoiler is if you drive 150+mph so that the spoiler creates downforce to keep your car on the ground. so if you drive that speed, then I could understand the whole spoiler, otherwise it makes no sense at all and is just stupid. I would say just ignore all of them and just laugh at them cause you know that they have no idea what they are even talking about. I chose an Acura over something with a v8 cause its just not as fun building up a car that's already fast and powerfull. The real skill lies in fixing up a 4cyl and making them as fast if not faster than the v8's, whilst still getting good mpg.

yeah i really dont know what im talking about.. i admit it lol
but i agree with you guys, my friends watch those racing movies ands tuff and think that they know everything about cars
i know nearly nothing at all, but sometimes i go and watch the shows with my dad on tv where these guys go and supe up these old cars, its pretty fun to watch, and i get a little knowledge sometimes...
my dad used to build old muscle cars back in the day, and suped em up
unfortunately, he didnt think about his future and had to sell them all etc and get a house, support the family, lol
(i wish he still had the pumped up cars) :p
i dont think he really cared about MPG back then, but they used to race all the time
well im sick and want to go to bed now, g night all

Ya spoilers are useless. Its ok when they are stock and are just to accent the look of the car, but to put an erector set on there......eeek!

I don't call skill throwing a turbo on a car and calling it good. I know its possible to build up the honda motors to be quite respectible, but your talking upwards of 10K for that (and thats still roughly 300 horses, if that) plus the fact its still front wheel drive. I'll give that that do handle better around corners. I'm sorry that I don't consider a turbo a real "tuner" mod.

Thats too easy. Hell I could throw new pistons in my car (flat top, forged pistons, alot cheaper for 8, then it is to buy 4 for a sport compact) and a Turbo, with like 12 PSI of pressure, or more if the comressions ratio is low enough (aluminum heads too) for a few grand. Plus the fact the initial cost of my car is cheaper. The real skill lies in fixing up a V8 as well. If you dont' match parts well or build the engine well, you have a pile of parts that only produces 180-250 horses. Look at all the 3rd gen F-Body cars....POOR performance, because of factory made mismatched parts, which was done on purpose but was still mismatched. Just my two cents. BTW a very souped up 4 cylinder engine (a good example is the honda S2000) gets just as bad if not worse gas mileage then a V8 with comparable, or more horsepower. It's just how it works! (S2000 250 horses, 19MPG city, 20 soemthing highway. Corvette Z06 410 horses, 19MPG city, 20 something highway.)

I'm glad you got an acura and want to build it up and you have respect for detroit iron. Thats cool, and for that I give respect.

Cheers dood!

Sorry x_wolf19, what I meant about skill is not just throwing on a turbo and thats it. That's easy but if its not tuned right, then it will still be slow. It takes skill to beable to do things to a car and actually have them turn out with some power and speed. According to what you have said and what I have said, I think we're thinking along the same lines. I guess though it's just personal preference as to which you would choose to buy and mod up. Either one you choose will still take money time and effort to build up.

Respect to both though:D

MAN you guys are awsome!! shoot on other webboards when I talk about cars ( I know quite a bit, so I prove poeple wrong ALL the time ) they just fly off the handle and flame the hell outta me. I respect you majorly for being so cool about things. Yes your right everything costs money (unfortunately) and I know a turbo not tuned right with the intake, and the exhaust flow (exhaust flow should have a pattern of sorts to it, to turn the spool faster) then it won't work right. I've seen many a turbo'd honda around here that still runs 15's and 16's cause they arn't tuned right. That you are right my friend! Yes I do believe we both think along to same lines as well. Too bad there aren't more poeple around like the people on this board. Then car's and fixin em up could get back to what it used to be....FUN!!!

Cheers!

nick1975: I know old kujoe's got a link on one of his threads for the car paint file. I got it myself.
It belongs to..... i can't remember. Defcon graphics website....
Sorry if i offended whoever it belongs to.

Nice cars fellas!!! My old man owns a 1972 GTHO Phase III. That was the most sought after Aussie muscle car in its day! I'll get around to modelling ot one day!

BTW, I drive a honda prelude, very heavily modified.
I wouldnt consider myself a ricer at all, I think the "Ricers" everybody so offensively refers to are simply car enthusiasts who dont have a clue how to modify a car properly.

In australia, we call them w@nkers.

But it applies to all cars, not just jap models.
A lot of 18 y olds in Oz are driving holden commodores (6 cylinder sedans) with chevrolet bowties on the back window, 2" exhausts and a set of extractors, an they think they're driving a muscle car.
They try and race me every chance they get.

My car looks like exactly what you guys describe as ricy, I have a "parkbench seat", rims, and a 3" exhaust system, but these are performance parts. I have HEAPS of other mods too. I have no neon lights, decals or any "Look at me" stuff.

Purely performance.

Anyone who thinks I'm a ricer, step up to the line, & I'll show you muscle car drivers my 3" "Rice Boy" exhaust first hand, as you try & catch up to me!!
:p

haven't you aussies got your own version of the dodge charger? myself I drive a '69 dodge dart (not modified at all) but it drives nice (well that is.......... when it starts ;) ) It will be the next car i'm going to model (a pic)

Yeah, the charger is one of Oz's faves...
After the array of Holden monaro's & HSV's..
Then would be the Ford GT's i guess.
