Hello,

I'm having a problem following a tutorial for designing a car for beginners that my teacher gave me. In the tutorial it states that to create a new poly, I have to Shift-Drag an existing vertex. When I do that, I get a box that looks like the following setup:

Clone To Object: Object008
Clone to Element
OK

I find this very confusing. I tried both options and the "Clone" doesn't appear anywhere. Is the tutorial outdated? If so, How do I create a new poly that connects from an existing vertex?

try to shift+drag an existing open edge. you'll see the difference :)

Hm...

But aren't you supposed to drag from the vertex? I'm trying to connect 2 vertex's to another 2 by the way.

Edit: Nevermind. That worked :D. Thanks, I'm extremely new to 3DS max.

Welding one vertex to another by dragging can be achieved through target weld, just for your future reference but that won't create a new edge/face/vert; it will simply weld the one you drag onto the one you drag it on top of
