Hello Guys! Thought I'd work on a new character called Phooka. I haven't done any personal work in ages, so here I go! I'll be back
Scetch drawing (From a Fairy book: Brain Froud and Allen lee)
Phooka:

I started the horns at a basic shape so far. As for the rest of the head, I don't wanna put too much detail there since its gunna be covered with shag hair. I think its detailed enuf already, so ill leave it up to the tweaking stages.
Head shots:

Wires:

I worked on the body on thnx given hollidays. I took my time on it and it still needs ajustments here and there, also legs will be added shortly following the hands and feet. Ill be back again with updates later.
PS: I'm not really sure about his belly though, think I should put him a a diet?
I'll be back.

I studied more on Character Studio 4.0 today, and I think ill plan to rig this character with charatcer studio along with bone setups for the muccles. This site here made by James Haywood with his great tutorials showed me new ways to rig a character. Needs minor ajustments though but heh, what I did was I Studied his Arm mucles tutorial, http://jhaywood.com/croiProjectArm05.htm
and just like apllied that same theroy the the biped arms. and it works. So Im assuming that we can aplly this to any muccles structre on da body :) cool eh? hehe brb, ill post updates very soon!

I did his feet yesterday and I thought I post em, There still at a basic shape, and will define the joints and lil musslce tone around the legs. I thought of doing his legs and feet this way becaese I was tired of seeing the orginal hind legs of a goat or the Lucifer originality. so I'm gunna go with the front legs of a goat instead :) looks more like our legs heh, anyways heres the Idea picture im gunna go for and the following is the basic shape of where I'm going.

i really dig how the torso and abdomen of this model is deviating from the idealized male physique that's becoming cliche in 3d. i'd say run with that. imho i'd say push the proportions even farther away from a perfect physique. just me but i'd really like to see 3d work get away from perfectly ripped guys and well endowed hot girls.
lookin forward to updates.

I only see a prob with his ankles, you should find a ref of a deeer or moose. So you can see exactly how they looks. Cause that right now is wrong.
Everuthing else rules as hell.

Hey Mdb,
The modeling looks excellent. I've been struggling to get an anatomically correct (human) mesh, so I can relate. Can learn a lot from your renders, specifically the wires, so I saved them...
As for whether or not to keep the belly; I think it looks cool, a nice change from the usual abs. But the appearance of the character should depend on it’s back-story…
Also thank you so much for the link to the tutorials, very useful I may apply the bicep technique to my current rig; but I would like to test the angle deformers out first...
Anyway, interesting character, keep up the great work.

i'd like to know the technique you used in creating that body. It is fantastic.

Im using the boxmodeling teqnique, also known as sub-d, or quads all the way baby!
OK! Finnaly had time today to work on its legs and ankles, this is it so far :) Im still tweaking it a bit, I dont wanna have too much muscle, more relaxed and flabby but not too much of it. After this, Im gunna move onto the hands, also gunna make them normal looking hands, a bit more manly though. once I do that I'm gunna attach the head to the body :) Ill be back

Hey, MDB
...like your model, specially because it's something different from all these muscular guys you see in the forum...
...just a tought: souldn't his thighs be a little shorter, and the rest of the legs a little bigger?

Lightwave? nope, 3d Studio Max 6.0 :)
Hello again, Lil time last time, finnally today I took the time to model up a hand, so far the hand is in its very early stages, as you can see there I just modeled one finger, then cutt and weld. Im not gunna worrie about the fingers right now, I'm gunna add more detail to the palm of the hand, once that is done, I'll then tweak those fingers and those finger nails and that thumb :)
Ill be back,

don't forget the wrinkles on the nucles...Now the fingers are to rough in comparison to the hand itself. The shape is perfect though!

i agree with robert

Hi guys, how was your hollidays? I hope it was a blast like mine :) anyhotos Im now gunna attach the pieces together.
Fist off lets start off with the head and neck area, if you will notice the chest area, I detatched it so that i can like view my view ports without any lag, I have a slow PC, athlon 800 mhz with 640 sdram and a geforce 2 card :P so I suffer LOL! anyways heres the updated pics on the neck and head :) after tweaking this neck, im gunna attach those hands :) ill be back.
PS: If my pics dont show up, just cutt and paste.. this server im on is free, so its kinda buggy.

i think that this may sound as a weird critique but you should shorten the body a bit in order to look better, it is just my opinion..
and definitely make the head a bit smaller...
other than this general proportion adjustment the model looks sweet

Looking excellent! how are you gonna texture it? What are you using to make it? Are you gonna use shag hair/ sasquatch....you know what I mean!
