Halo on the most difficult level with only one person. The multiplayer is a lot easier.

Where do you draw the line between a game that is challenging and a game that is just flat out annoying. Tomb Raider series comes to mind. It's like you die every two minutes over something stupid. I like games that challenge me as player, but games that like TR straight up suck.

actually, the two difficult games im playing:
- midnight club 2 - almost finished (80%)
- contra 3 - impossible
the two for playstation 2
Ya, I could never get that far in any of the Contra games, yet they are one of my favorites

Hmm..tough question.
I'd have to go with Castlevania 2 on NES. I'm not sure I could classify it has the hardest, but it definitely took the longest to beat without using a Game Genie or something.
=]
Hehe, Mario RPG on SNES was also another tough one to go all the way through and get all the secrets.
mmm..but soo much fun.

I think one of the hardest game in the world is Gta3 for the PC, there are some missions that u just can't sucsses in them, for example the last mission, there is absoloutly no way you can secsses in it without using any cheat codes...

you serious?...if there's one game I find easy then it's gta 3.
No cheats used.
Only after I finished it...then it's fun.
No I probably sound as a noob...but I never completed ghost recon.
And the extra assigments you get after finishing mafia are pretty hard.

since i am a hardcore gamer, i dont find anygame diff...
but i havent played one game and the guy who informed me about it challenged that you cant complete "runAway" without a walkthru!
Turok 2 was retarded is was so hard. i think the one i played was for the nintendo 64. even with cheats i couldn't beat that thing.
contra for PS2 is pretty tough.
i even tried it with a walkthrough. hopeless hehe

hardest game is probably Atlantis 2, puzzle game with no real way of solving them without walkthrus or a phd in code breaking/minor puzzle solving . i also found thps 3 hard too much button mashing, oh yea and all time pointless game sims :p

From what i've played i'd say Ikuragu on Gamecube is the hardest game espcially if oyur trying for a high score.

Hardest game ever:
Falcon 4.0
I needed about a year to learn all the functions of every system in the cockpit, and to learn all the maneuvers!
The KI is great, too, but now that I play it for about 3 years (maybe 4) I got really good, but man, you gotta practise a lot to fly a successull mission!

yeah atlantis 2 is a HARD GAme!!!!!!
btw: im a true fan of the atlantis series, although i only played 2 games in the series...
Pong?
Seriously though I do remember a game on the master system called choplifter that just seemed to go on and on and on - I don't think I ever completed that one. Not cos it was hard but cos it so bl**dy monotonous! :)
Zelda: Link to the Past took me a while, as did FF7. But the one game I've never completed is Escape from Monkey Island. I finally got to the third disk but couldn't work out what to do with the boulders? Don't you hate it when that happens! :o
Now I'm happily wasting my time on the easier sort of game like Soul Calibur 2. :p

I remember chplifter. That was a fun game and I think it was impossible to win also. There was like four levels and once you beat those it would restart the cycle, only faster this time. I hear donkey Kong is supposedly impossible to win. The last levels are kill levels. They do not give you enough time if you ran the most direct route without stopping at all.

The hardest game for me: Final Fantasy Tactics
That damn games so hard every stage needs carefull planning and alot of back up save game.. Damn that game but its good!
oh and warhammer in PS console. Also a hard game, so hard...
Anyone here ever heard of Pontifex 2? It's a little obscure, but there was an actual glitch in one of the levels that made the game LITERALLY imposible to beat.
in terms of difficulty, Donkey Kong Country 2, actualy, make that any game with the word donkey in the title (can donkey kong actualy be beat?)
jbw:

Try turning the difficulty all the way up, and then beat the computer in arcade mode w/out dying.
I knew someone would pick up on that... I'll admit I'm not that good, i can wipe the floor with most (if I'm using the right character) but on the hardest setting I can't win.
Still don't think its as tough as Soul Blade though - Cervantes was a rock in a sock!

hmm i dont play many games,, i get bored too quickly.. playing against computer opponents sucks...
i suppose the human brain could work better if it was dedicated to a task without distractions,
so that being said,, i think playing q3 is the hardest game ive ever played,, or ut because of the sheer mind blowing accuracy needed,, but then you never finish those games they just go on and on and on,,
define hard.. using the controlls accuratly?
solving puzzles?
im thinking that the only way to make a game hard is to make puzzles, because controll accuract comes with age and practice,, and is training the motor and eye coordination functions,, whereas the puzzle is training other aspects,,
exploratory games,, training the spacial awareness
i always thought that wolfenstien was impossible to tell where you were going,, ****** spacial awareness
i dont like puzzle games.. =P
doom :O)
and i always found airwolf ****** hard
sorry for thinking out loud but i tend to do that

the hardest game i ever played was metal gear solid 2. set to extreme difficulty, if guards see you, you lose, take about 2 hits from a boss and die, like a total of 3 rations throughout the game. and to finish it off i had to face over 90 metal gears at the end! ....that's a lot of missile dodging, but i beat it in the end :D
hm i never finished Splinter Cell ,
i think its because i didntry enough , but i used to stuck on very places

Sega GT2002. That game is easy up until the last license challenge. Then you have to beat this course in some ridiculous amount of time using some ****ty ass car equivalent to a Pinto (or worse  ). I'de never thrown my controller before, but that damn level pushed me over the edge.
Turok 2 was easy for the most part. I think I got to the last level without using cheats (I used a walkthrough on the 4th level, but that level was impossible to navigate through without it). Then my mom hid it from me :p.
Halo is pretty easy as well, but I went on 4 month long binge with that one, and now I know the game like the back of my hand. The worst part is I'm about due for a relapse (Halo 2). But what am I saying I cant wait :D. I hope to see some of you on Xbox Live, as soon as I renew my account :). I wish I had a chill GFX card so I could play HL 2 tho :(.
Has any one played Fable yet? I really wanna try that one :).

Iron Storm. There are more snipers in the game than in the MOH:AA sniper level, and the "stealth" parts are a painstaking process of trial and error.

Ninja Gaiden
Game that I am best at and can beat anybody here at:
Tony Hawks pro skater 3 and 4
MonteCristo
27-10-2004, 04:38 AM
Street Fighter 2 on Level 8 setting was pretty ****** hard. As was fighting Shin Akuma on SF Zero 3.
Soul Calibur 2 on Extreme is quite tough.
The facility level on Goldeneye, beating it under the target time on 00 was a real beatch when I first did it.
Oh yes, I know, Elite difficulty on Rainbow Six was a nightmare.

well I recently got Mega Man X6 for the sake of nostalgia not too long ago, last time I had played those types of game I was 12. Anyhow, that game is suprisingly hard, I've wanted to throw my remote control through the window a few times. :p

As far as I know it only came out on the n64. That game kicked ass for its time though. Some of you may see this as blasphemous but I thought it was better than goldeneye  :). At least the single player was :).
Yeah it was, except that it was freaking impossible:grr:
i know Turok Dnosaur Hunter came to the pc... not sure about nr2 though. I always looked for it because I'm sue it would be easier with a mouse and keyboard instead of the n64 controller (although n64 is the ONLY console that ever had a first person shooter friendly controller).
Go Nintendo!

Beating Ninja Gaiden for the xbox on the hardest difficulty led to the destruction of countless controllers for me... But gawd damned that game is amazing.
Ghosts n Goblins for NES.
Turok 2 took me a few good years to beat...
SMASH TV is a bitch too.
Thats all I can think of right now.

there are quite a few games which are somewhat hard to play, heres the hardest I know of:
dune 2000: really old game, but the 1st mission is kinda impossible: I played the game first time. mission was to harvest x amount of spice. so I sent out the harvester to the spice fields. on the first trip back, the sucker was eaten by a sand worm. of course I couldnt build another one. roughly 10 secs after that, a huge enemy armada storms my base and wrecks everything -> wtf?
N! : its a cool lil freeware game, you play a ninja and have to find the exit of the level. LOTS of evil traps and security systems, and LOTS of jumping stuff. this game gets way harder then prince of persia: sands of time will ever be ;)
recoil: quite old, too, but daaaammmnnn hard to beat, a giant amount of enemies which take a lot of shots to kill, but wreck your vehicle with a few shots. homing rockets go w/o saying
prince of persia: sands of time: the runs through the trap corridors still are a big challenge, maybe Ill try finish the game now that I got my new sys
edit:
mario kart 64: not too hard really, but one particular race really makes you bite your controller, you race backwards on a highway, with cheating enemies always right behind you.
snowboard kids 64: that just sprang to my mind. usually, all races are like this: you board and board and are about to finish first place. literally 4 feet before finish line, an opponentīs item will hit you and you will finish 2nd to 4th. literally EVERY time...

Which reminded me..
The original Prince of Persia is even harder than Turok 2!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! I hate that game :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:
I remember I came to a level where I was supposed to follow a rat or something :\ You had only one hour to finish that stupid game and the battles were extremely hard after a while. Esp the stupid ghost version of yourself :grr: :grr:
