Here is a old character I am trying to finish up. She is the Bride of Frankenstein. I have a Frankenstein character I made earlier in the year and she is his match. I'll post his pic under hers just in case you are interested. I think the head mesh is finished, though may still need some more tweaking and the body is obviously not finished. I have the hands, arms and legs to finish up then I'll start texturing. I hope to finish the modeling phase by tomorrow. So any crits before then would be appreciated.

Thanks Gl2eEn.

I'm finishing up the model right now. I'm starting to wonder about accessories now. I've never been one to add them onto a character, but I think she could use some. Problem is I have no idea what to add. So if anybody has idea, please throw them my way. I'd be much obliged. I just threw on some electrical bolt earings, but I'm not sure they work or not. And I suppose I should model a wedding ring since she is the bride of Frankenstein. Any other thoughts on the subject though?

Also, I'm wondering what I should do with textures. Should I put some stitches and cuts on her like Franky, only less obvious? I don't want her to lose her sex appeal by putting gross things all over her, but I think she should have some.

Here is a pic with the earings...

Here is a close up of Franky so you can see the details of the stitches and cuts. Obviously I don't want to mangle up the Bride as much as Franky here, but I'm thinking maybe do the stitched skin effect around the outside of her face and down the neck. Something along those lines. But not actually have any cuts right through the face. Do you guys think that will look alright? And while I'm asking questions, what do you think of the color scheme I have going on with her so far?

lol i loe your stuff vertigo, the bride looks great and so does franky
the only thing, her lipstick looks a little bit odd in that close up, is it sposed to be like that?

Looks great as always, if Frank gets tired of her bride, I'll take her:p ;)
Maybe you could give her some scars on the forehead so that they kinda looks like wrinkles?

Vertigo, glad to see you back on this project! The bride looks as sexy as ever and I found your stitches solution to be the perfect one. As for the gore, I think that her white dress spoted by some blood stains, dirt and maybe some green stuff would do the trick. Keep us updated and goodluck!

I think she is fantastic. A widowspeak would be perfect on her. She really has alot of character good job.

Well, I think the modeling is done. Unless I come up with more idea for accessories. I also started to unwrap her legs and put some stockings on her. Though I don't have the skin color on her legs right yet, but I haven't decided on the final skin color yet, so that will have to wait.

sarN - Thanks, as always. I'm not exactly sure what you mean is wrong with the lipstick. But I can let you know that those are only colored polys right now, so the color isn't laying in exactly the right spots.

rubberduck - I think you need to get away from the computer more :D This is the second woman model of mine that you seem to have taken an unhealthy fixation upon. LOL. Thanks for the compliment though. I'm gonna start unwrapping her face tomorrow and hopefully start to try out some texturing ideas. I'll post some updates soon, so I hope to get some feedback from you.

Avatar - Thanks bud. Though I can't say I'm completely back on this project. I'm more getting some models done so I can put a demo reel and print portfolio together. Yes, soon I shall be in search of the elusive 3d job. So wish me luck.

_M_ - Thank you, but I'm not exactly sure what a widowspeak is. Could you explain it for me? Thanks.

Ok, ok, I need help...I have a weakness for CG babes:eek: :D :D
If think this is called a widows peak, someone correct me if I'm wrong;)

Yup, you're right there rubberduck. I asked a good friend of mine about the widow's peak and she confirmed that it is the m shaped hairline. But I really don't want to exaggerate the hairline too much. I think she would look too much like my dracula (http://h10012.racknine.com/~forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11575&perpage=15&pagenumber=2) . But I did add a slight one. Also, I am done with the unwrapping. So I should be able to start on the texture soon. Probably either tonight or tomorrow. I also have to work on concepts for my devil's tonight. So we'll see how much I can get done.

She's looking better and better. And look, she's got her first screws:D! In the neck none the less!
Good luck searching for the job Veritigo buddy! I hope you found one to suite your talents!

Well, I'm glad the forum is back up. It was a long hiatus.

I've started to texture my bride of Franky. I've so far only got the stitches roughed out, but I'd thought I'd get opinions on where I've put them. I don't want them to be too distracting, but think they are an integral part of the character. I don't think I'll make them as gnarly as Franks stitches.

Here's the image, and crits are welcome of course.

Hi, great works :)
Just a little crit: the current stitches on the bride kind a remember me of chucky :D
But that doesn't mean they're bad, does it? :p

Looks great, how are you going to texture her? I would texture her face so that her eye area looks bruised, if you know what I mean;) and some bruising on or around the scars

I hope there will be some stitches on the wrists too. But its your choice after all. She looks nice even with the scares. Keep it on!

Maaan, you could like bring all your lil characters together and make a horror- funny cartoon series and sell it to some big network like cartoon network and make loadz of moneh. All your chars just SCREAM with charisma. And these two aren't left out. She really looks good. Very nice style indeed. Keep it goin.

Hey guys, I know its been a long long time since you posted those comments, but I still have to say thank you.

Avatar - I do plan on adding the stitches to her arms/wrists sometime soon.

Emperor - those are my thoughts exactly

Okay, I was looking at the Bride here and thought she could use a better dress, so I quickly changed her current one to this. Keep in mind it is only a quick rough layout. The final one will be much more elaborate like a wedding dress. Only it will be black, cause I think the black contrasts her skin nicely. Basically I'm looking for crits on the overall look of her now or a crit on the style of her dress. Even though the detail isn't there, you can still see the character design. Another thing I'm not sure is working is the big blue eyes and the red on her dress. One of them might have to change color. Do you agree or no?

Here is the rough dress.

nice changes, they look more accurate to the type of storyline this character would have. Although personally I liked the purple more than the red though.

Vertigo

Thanks DanielB. Yeah, I'm not too sure about the red yet. I'm still debating it. At first I was gonna do dark blue, but I ALWAYS use blue so I'm trying to break away from that if I can.

I've started on the mapping. So far I've just done some of the bump mapping. I still have a long ways to go, but you can see the direction I'm heading in. I see I need to adjust some UVs now. I plan on doing an opacity map so certain areas will be slightly see through. Like the material is really light.

Smashing! You know, I still have your little Frankenstein movie on my comp, so I bearly can wait to see what will you do with all those great characters of yours. And your little lady already looks fantastic!

nice detailing, looks great. Those stitches are still a work in progress right? It's just when you look at them up close, doesn't look quite right.

Vertigo

Avatar - I can't believe you still have that movie. I posted it over a year ago at least. I don't when I'll ever get back to the animation stage with this project. I'd need a whole production team I think. Thanks for the compliments.

Dan - yeah, pretty much all the textures are still early on. Even the model is still WIP. Right now I'm really concentrating on this dress. I'm excited about it and want to work while the excitement is still high.

Here is an early test of what I could do with the opacity map. I'm trying to get the arms and abs covered in lace eventually. I think its slowly coming together now. Its all black now because I don't have a diffuse map yet.

hey vertigo, glad to see you! The detailing on that shirt looks awesome. Is the eye shader finished? Cus they look kinda flat. keep us updated :)

Vertigo
08-08-2004, 05:40 AM
Hey sarN, nice to hear from you. Yeah, the eyes are just temp eyes for now. They really are just the mapped spheres that I through in when I was modeling the face. I never went in and replaced them. Maybe I'll target the eyes after I finish the shirt area. That'll give me a little break before tackling the skirt.

Another update on the shirt area. I think I have all the details that I want in the shirt done. Now I just need to find a final color scheme for that shirt area. I'm trying to get some color into her dress, but I can't find the best way. I keep looking back at that all black version of the dress I posted last and I really like it. Maybe if I get some red in the dress part it'll balance her out and she'll look good then. Also, I might still add a few wrinkles through bump mapping no the shirt area. Not so much in the sleeves, but on her breasts and the black areas on her stomach and back.

The shirt looks magnificent. But Colors will take away the grim feeling of a mourning widow (or a freack monster come to life :D) she has now. Keep it great!

Looks great, nice work on the outfit too;) I would try a black lipstick on her and see what it looks like

I like the color scheme of the last pic, seems to go well together (for me at least!) She's purdy for a monster :)

EDIT: oh yeah, the upper sleeve by her shoulder, the UV's are still a bit off (I'm not sure if you fixed it from when you first mentioned it)

Very nice job!

One nitpick - (IMO) the stitches arent reading as such.

Other than that this is really very nice.
