Hello everyone. I've updated my site and added somthing that some of you may find useful.

I was thinking one day...wouldn't it be nice to just have a fast updating mesh rigged up so that I could just practice character animation? I answered myself (scary) and said, yes it would. I then said, how about sharing it with others who may be in the same boat?

Now, without further ado, I give you the first mesh/rig of the series. I will be creating a few other variations of this...A Big Comic type guy. An athletic female. A quadraped (prob a horse) and a winged creature (prob a dragon like thing.)They can be downloaded by going to my website:

or directly to the download page:

I made this rig in the interest of getting up and running with animation quickly. Once you work with this for about an hour, you'll see that it can do just about anything.

Issues with the rig:

- Shoulder twists a little ugly when twisting a lot. Use the clavicle and shoulder bone to twist the arm.
- Fingers are not completely perfectly skinned. They work though and will be good enough for practicing.
- The toe controller does not orient with the rest of the foot when animating. Just keep this in mind when moving it.

When rotating, it's best to rotate under local coordinates.

Again, this is just for animation practice. For those who are new and want to play and those (like me) who don't want to rush a character so we can rig and skin them.

This will give you fast feedback and is easy to control. I played with it a litte before uploading it. Check the pose pictures.

Also, it is best if you make your character see through and freeze him. This will make selecting the bones easier. For me, grabbing the bones themselves is nicer than making a bunch of controllers. If you want controls for all bones, then by all means either make them or let me know.

Also, Please PLEase PLEASE let me know if you download the files and what you think of them. I am anxious to know and I don't have a counter setup. You can either PM me, or fill out the form on my site.

Thanks everyone...enjoy and happy holidays.

That is very strange. I just tried it and it worked OK. I was able to get to the page and download the files.

I had an issue with some FTP software causing errors when trying to download files. That may be it. If you disable the browser integration in your FTP program for a bit, then it may work for you.

It could be that my hosting service was doing maintenance also.

Sorry about that. Please try it again.
