when working with max, in the viewport, when 2 objects are close together, or when one polygon is close behind another one, this is what it appears like:

I think thats a norm when i'm running low on ram. I usually keep edged faces on, or use wireframe view.

its been a while since i've seen this issue
what drivers are you using for your interface (direct 3d , open gl, heidi? )
have you tried switching to another one of those
what kind of video card do you have?

i have an nvidia geforce 2 (damn, i hate it) card, the pc came in a bundle. atm, im using software for where it says "graphics driver setup, what should i change it to, openGL, or direct3d?

i just changed to openGL, and everything works sweet! much quicker moving round the perspective viewport with many textures in the scene and they're enabled. plus that annoying problem's gone. thanks man
