Well here's what I've been busy with, I'm kinda sick of the 350z lol, and I wanted to try my hand at interiors too. So far its fun!
I started this yesterday... or maybe the day before i dont remember anymore but thats ok. Still needs quite a bit of detailing. Only thing ive done on the interior are those funky seats. The windshields ugly IMO, it needs new tires more than anything, Headlight bump maps, and well, you know, all the knitty grittys. That front part near the hood also annoys me. Well this is pretty much on hold for 2 days, since i have snowboarding tomorrow, then a school dance thing, then snowboarding the next day, so there isnt much time to work on it. I'll check back on the forums during hte time i have though and give some more angles if u want. This is a standard 3ds6 render with HDRI and... well im not that pleased with it but itll do at least for now. I want brazil! Leave your comments :D

sarN

yes blackwolf, it is done with blueprints, its not sposed to look cartoony lol but thats ok! thanks for the honest opinion :D
im pretty pleased with the look anyways lol
still some things to do, but ive been in a modelling slump lately lol
the stripes on the hood still need to be aligned a little bit, and there are other small details i have to do

i think it looks nearly photorealistic with the last couple of renders, great work sarN! always been a fan of yours.

sarN
27-01-2004, 01:26 PM
wow, thanks bravo! a fan? that means a lot :D
it makes me want to model more lol
and oops that clay render is a bit old, the windshield looks weird, but its not a mesh error like that one, and i also fixed that spot on the door and the little space on the hood, ill do another and post it. And ill keep modelling when i get home, no homework tonight!

Of course I'm a fan! You're modeling, texturing, and rendering is all excellent. I love the interior so far, it looks fantastic. Sorry I can't give you any real criticism, as I dont' really see much wrong.

hey i've seen this on SMCars blueprint database. wonderfull car love it alot
i try to make cars too in 3dsm6 but i dont know how to make windows, do u have to make the rubbery thing around it too or no ?
and headlights. do i leave them as holes and then make the galss or make it as one mesh(same with windows)?
any help would be appreciated. thnx

sarN
28-01-2004, 12:16 PM
thanks for hte comments guys!
1337: nope, there arent any rubbery things around the windows. All of the different pieces are detached, like the door, hood, windows, etc. i make the glass separately, and in this case, i did so with the headlights too. Because the shape is so simple, the glass headlights are just a squashed sphere :) the window is a box that i edited and just fitted it to the windshield part. My headlights (done lazily) consist of... The outer chrome ring, and then two squashed spheres. One is reflecting chrome and is 2 sided on the inside, then the other is mirrored and that is the glass you see with a bump map. There are much better ways to do them, such as radarheads way. Hope that helps :)
Oh and by the way, the way that im doing the headlights on my current project is im making them along with the entire body mesh then detaching them later, but it wasnt logical to do so with the cobra, so i didnt hehe. Thanks again everyone :)
Any color requests?

WoW thanks guys, it really means a lot. Sorry this thread is so old, but I will do some new renders and i plan on making this over AGAIN someday lol. And also i wanted to answer Mystikos question :) The way that i do my reflections for that rendering in scanline is that i just take a simple HDRI map, and place it in the environment slot. Drag that as an instance into the material editor, then change to spherical environment. With the map im using, i went down to the other options panel and set RGB output to about 2-2.5 i think it was. Then this is what the environment is. Then i put a skylight in on 1.0 for strength. Then i drag the environment map and im pretty sure that last render was set at about 40. The lower the number, thebrighter that the entire lighting of the scene will be. Hope it helps :) Beware of long render times though, these took over 20 minutes for the renders =/

Hey guys, i deleted a lot of the cobra (details basically) fixed some small body errors
im currently redoing all the interior and stuff, a lot of small things, then i was thinking of modelling not the whole chassis, but the axles for the wheels, so as maybe it could be used in an animation (yeah right) Anyways, one of the things i was wondering was if you think it is too long, it matches the length of this blueprint, but sometimes it just looks too long to me. Id like your input, heres the blueprint

Nice sarN, I remembered you started one a while ago. That one looked like an elephant or some sort of big fish with the mouth opened.

16-03-2004, 09:44 AM
ok guys ive been reworking this a little but im stuck
this is the stupidest problem ive ever seen. Ive remodelled this trunk 3 times because of the problem hence why its not lined up. I applied the same material to the trunk and the sphere, both of which have thickness and the same exact properties as the other material on the car. For some odd reason, the trunk doesnt reflect (even when i remodel it) but the sphere does. Also, if i switch back to he 3ds scanline, it all reflects like it should. Please help me lol

slavke
16-03-2004, 10:21 AM
I get the same problem sometimes don't know why also. Like I create a copy of the door and for some reason the material does not reflect it looks like it has a different material on it. Really strange.

hey guys i worked on this again. I deleted the entire back half (invluding hte door spot) then remodelled it, and then i tweaked the front to try and make it more accurate. It doesnt look that much different though lol. As you can see in the front perspective its got kind of a wavy thing goin on thereand ill fix it. From the previoues cobra i made the doors more accurate and got rid of the mesh error that was there. I still have to tweak a ton of things on the model to get it looking all proportional and right, then i have to remodel all of the details. Well guys, here it is, point out any inaccuracies :)

sarN

some back action oh yeah i still have to model the hood scoop

19-03-2004, 01:23 AM
wow, pretty nice, lookin good so far,

though i haf to say, the env. map on the chrome doesnt quite work with the scene, that Bright blue attracts my eyes too much

claWda
19-03-2004, 01:37 AM
as Aichi-Val said, the chrome looks a bit off, is it because of the background color? anyway, just being picky, this looks great, will be nice to see it textured!

sarN
19-03-2004, 08:47 AM
thanks guys, yeah its off because i have an HDRI with a bright blue sky in it hehe. Ill just change the background to white for the next renders, ill update again today

Can you post a clay version cos... I dont see any problems with the edges.

sarN
21-03-2004, 07:36 AM
the clay version is essentially the same as on the page before this, i just wanted to test out paint and stuff. do you mean problem with edges on the hood? there are no edge problems, i though it just looked a little weird lol
