thats very nice, i'd like to see it textured.
What light type are you using, and shadow, in what software and renderer, tanks :)
Thanx,
gonna start textures 2nite or maybe 2moro....
i used 3Ds Max.
Rendered with vRay... and the light is VrayLight
vRay shadows!
L8erz
ok, done with the texturing...
this is just a simple scanline render with default lights...
this is what i started with :D
and here is final render...
loads of C&C welcomed :)

I like it its wonderful work but the only thing that doesn't look photoreal to me is the tire I dunno like either the tread sticks out too much or is too blocky I can't quite put a finger on it.Good job texturing also.
Thanks CGstripe...
texturing need some more tweaking...
the rest i think is all good. :)

yup the tire tread looks ugly...
i was thinking of adding a noise modefier before actually
bending it...
or maybe a nice strong bump map would do the trick.
Thanx for the sweet comments
despite the cog wheels it looks beautiful :) You scared me for a minute when i saw that scanline, but the real render looks great :)
Thanx sarN...
ROFL - u thought the scanline was my photoreal?
hahaha
thanx sarN... i am gonna work on the threads again! :)
just fixed the thread...
Loads of crits are welcomed...
plus, any comments on improving the threads?
ps. these are just low renders.

looks good:) , my only crits is the texture on the board that above the tire ( I don't know how to call it:o ) is too assured.

hmmm - i dont know the name either, ive named it ArmRest-Left/ Right in max (lol)

It looks like you used the same material for the floor as you did for the wall.. which makes the floor's tiles look stretched. Maybe set the bump to a higher value even?
I like everything else tho! :D
ok here is somthing i worked 2day...
i had to redo the whole dust texturing as me HD crashed...
and i bought in a new PC
anyways...
here is a real quick of my progress so far...
this time i rendered the scene with DOF..
lots of C&C welcome...

mine aint as good as it though.

Wow, this looks really good. Minor nits: the fender (arm rest) looks better, but I wonder if the wood texture isn't a bit large, considering what the scale of the fender would be relative to planed wood... I could be wrong, of course; that's just how it strikes me. The other thing is that there is no grain at all on the shafts, but they don't look painted, either.
I really like this; it's not your typical 3D transportation.

Thanx Marcia... hmmm actually the wood is tilled up..
ill try reducing the tiles and give it a try...
or maybe edit it out in photoshop so that it takes up the shape
of the wood..
and btw, what shaft are you talking about?
Marcia
08-03-2004, 04:41 PM
The shafts, the long pieces of wood that go on either side of the horse, that hitch him to the cart. But now that I study it more closely, I can see that there's strong light on the forward part of the shafts, so you probably wouldn't see the wood grain anyway, and also that it's subtly visible in the shadow... so I'm un-picking that nit. I must have been cross-eyed earlier. ;)

oh ok now i get what you were saying...
Yup its the light - you can see it on my previous renders
the wood material is there... but on this new render it looks
as if its not there due to the light
i was thinking of lowering the light or maybe darkening the texture.
thanx for the comments :)

hmmmmm nice question :)
thinking of some more bolts and metal details on the
front shaft
and some more chains :D hehehe not sure though
n yeah - some chinese characters on the door
and some wire box on the wall
Watch out for more...

This is comming along nicely
I'd try working you metal textures so that they contrast more with the wood.
Some of the wood could use a little more "character" as well
I love all that warm light reflecting off the door

accessing Threedy.com :(

i added some bolts to the front logs... and replaced the front chain
darkened the wood & metal textures a bit...
and adjusted the light....

Very nice
I think this last image is somewhat stronger than the previous versions. I like the harsh light and all the strong shadows.
But, I miss all that refected light off the door ;)
Actualy I'm not so sure Better is the right word
more like different.
Marcia sound familiar? :)

beautiful work man, keep it up,
what render u used?
first off... thanx to all of you folks who took time to comment
on my last render...
usually people dont comment as they should..
thread hits are above 1000 and posts are only 50
(now thts sad)
mmiller: Thanx man...
i had to reduce the reflection off the door...
it looked wierd, as i had pulled the cart front and
paned the camera back... it looks better now, dont it?
el_crni: Thanx man, i use vRay - my fav. renderer. :D
i think ive spent enough time on this one now...
i am thinking of finishing this off and
starting off with sumthing new...
plus my bmw x5 is still waiting
Thanx once again...
L8er.

Like I said - somewhat better
but to me the earlier images are so much different than this last render that it's difficult to compare them.
The first ones were about light and color
Bright, hot, colorful
the mood was entirly different.
the second is more about shapes and shadows.
Another very nice image
It just feels entirely different to me.
well, that's how I see it anyways.
sometimes we move ahead - sometimes sidewise
It's not a bad thing :)
but, i think you are right - time to move on.
good job
mark
Thanx for such nice comments Mark! :D

Bottom tiles don't look convincing. I would model them if I were you.
