or start with box modeling? Yes you can model as good as me.. I was just like you. If you look at a lot of my post you'll see how bad my work was, so beleive me; you can do it. I don't spline cars or box model... I use a plane. That is called poly modeling... although I use splines for other things like rims ect. Need any help, just let me know. Practice makes perfect.
I finally finished the horse! (Only 8 hours to complete) YeeHooo.... Next, I'll work the rims.
Thanks on the paint job dude! :D
thanx kujoe...
i have started with BMW x5, i hope it turns out good!

kujoe, do you want some pics of my '66 mustang coupe, it has a 289 V8, an option for the mustang, aswell as an original interior. it isn't a fastback, but it still might have the same engine and interior, if your interested in doing the engine and interior of course.
otherwise well done

Check out my focus HERE (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13572&pagenumber=2) Ya you can .just put a skylight in ,then under render.click advance lighting.then make it light trace.then you can play with the setting.
Is that what you wanted to know?
Very nice looking ford you have there.great work man.:D
Kujoe
08-03-2004, 03:45 PM

wow, great work.
Your materials are really good, only crit i have is the scene its all in but i'm sure thats just temporary
What are the materials and the lighting setup?
antoine
09-03-2004, 02:25 PM
Gee Kujoe dog, you have no future using 3ds max, just give up.
J/K dog, nice work. I don't see much wrong at all, and the only crits are the left window has a weird reflection, it seems more opaque than the others, but that might not be too correctable. Also, the front bumper doesn't seem as reflective as the wheels, but that might be intentional. BTW, could you look at my porshe and help me too? thanks dog, nice mustang.

If your using a skylight I don't think you need more than 1 maybe 2 other lights. With all those lights you have shadows on the bonnet of the car that are darker than the shadow underneath it, try area shadows too.
Where is it getting the reflections from?
If its not the background enviroment then you could put the entire scene in an inverted sphere which would better complete the scene
I'm not too good with lighting and materials. Any idea how to get a blurred reflection sorta like a stainless steel

But I have tried the inverted sphere but it seemed to never work out for me. You probably don't see the plane above the car because it is hidden. (For materail I used a self ill. ) so you can see where the lights are. Have you ever seen that technique with the plane? If not, I can post a link for you. My environment map is in edit materail, environment. I learned that technque from Radarhead. Thanks for the help.

This is very cool, I'm no expert, but I think the rims take away from the picture, I think you should make some cooler ones, I'm not suggesting you get carried away and make some crazy ass rims, but some cooler ones would make the scene better in my opinion
this is looking wicked Ray!

well with special I meant cars that aren't so usual, like you see lots of audi's, bmw's, mercedes on threedy, and sure they can look great, but when it comes down to it, you see these cars like at least twenty times a day - a 1965 fastback is a bit more rare, get my point? :) good job, will be checking back on this

can we get a rear shot?? awsome car :-D
I have been watching this one for a while now - it really is looking great! But, I think, that the tyres look a little flat on the front, and the wheel itself doesn't look quite right... Other than that, well done, and keep us informed - I'm sure you will ;)

really nice work man..........good job!!!!
Only crits are the scene its placed in, it either needs to be a photo studio style or a wall and floor setup.
The tires are just black don't know if you modelled them or what but all I see is blackness
The door seams aren't big enough. The gaps are too small and tight

Sorry, no, what were you talking about?
I just thought for such an old car all the different pannels seem to fit too perfectly, that last render looked better maybe its just cause its 3d and I (and others people) tend to pick at it more rather than just excepting it as real.
I think you should put it in a scene like a big residential garage or kinda out the back.
Kujoe, can you post a topview of the wireframe?
There's something fishy about the windshield curve i'd like to point for you.

Yes, sorry.
The windshield does not look arched enough in the perspective view, but modeling looks correct.
Anyway, keep up the good work man.
