Is it just me or is my website REALY slow

http://mwmiller.net

I have DSL and sometimes it takes 10-15 seconds to load a page.
other times it just hangs there.

I made the site myself using Dreamweaver and I am definitly NOT an expert.
So I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice.
I suppose the in-line images are slowing things down some.
and those roll over buttons probably aren't helping either.
or ... is it just a slow server?

the fact that the load time vary so much kind of makes me think it's the server,

I'm kind of out of my element here, so any help would be appreciated.
TIA
Mark

pretty fast over here with DSL ... there are some things you can do about loading times ... obviously you can use smaller images .. and you can put java scrips you use (for example the mouseover ones into an external file and just hand over variables ... that way the script only has load 1 time and the code looks better ;)

Loads fine with me too.
Of course it's crammed with images, i think you could resample many of them to a smaller resolution - not necessarily to a smaller size. As for javascript i must confess i am presently scratching the surface of HTML...

I am on a high speed connection and it took a little longer then it should. Are your graphics compressed? If it isn't the graphics it could just be the server like you said.

hmmm...
so it's loading up ok for you guys?
I have noticed that at times it seems to load quickly but other times it seems to hang.
I've seen the opening index page take a good 60 seconds to finish loading.

I suppose I could lose the roll overs
they aren't realy adding that much.
But i do kind of like them.

javascript - I have no idea how to go about this.
Yeah, I am a total noob with all this stuff :o

as for the imagry
I always prep the files using the "Save for web" command in Pshop. I usualy set the compressin at medium.
I know that some of the files are kind of big.
But, I'm into details and in some cases a 700 pixel file is just a waste of time.
But, I try to warn people about the realy big ones.

well shoot
If it ain't broke ......
and I definitly would rather spend my time making pictures

thanks for the feedback

Play a little with the compression in PS ... sometimes you can use 20/30 without loosing to much of the image

It seems to me that your server is a bit slow, and that rollovers don't add to the load speeds. Their preloading slows the rest of the page.
