Here are some models and scene for our new short - it's about a girl-snowboarder who being chasing by angel and fiend :-) what do you think about it?
Now I'll try to update this topic recently.
20-02-2004, 12:01 AM
lovely style, nothing to complain. reminds me of good old maniac mansion 2 day of the tentacle
20-02-2004, 12:21 AM
haha I love the 3rd guy. nice style too . I can't wait to see more
Looks great, only crit is that you'd might want to control the ink lines a bit more. Like on the snow. It looks a bit um.. harsh maybe. But great style none the less. The mechanical ski wire thing looks great!
20-02-2004, 12:56 AM
Thank you, guys. We're working on bodies and snowboards now. And there will be some interesting stuff too! :)
2 Knut - ok, we'll try it.
20-02-2004, 08:51 AM
ok, here is a small update of girl character - now it looks more "girl-like" :)
20-02-2004, 09:35 AM
Very nice cartoon style! I think the snow looks bad though. It looks dirty, I'd prefer more blue-greyish shadow rather than black.
20-02-2004, 10:52 AM
WOW! Very nice cellshading, very nice characters...! And also a VERY nice backgroundpainting! :) Looks good at the moment...!
20-02-2004, 05:15 PM
hahah I like them, they look really funny, I want to see more. So far is not enough to crit
21-02-2004, 01:33 AM
Well, here are some thoughts on snowboard boots (but still thinkin' about colors for our characters :) ) + I've changed color of the snow. :)
21-02-2004, 02:29 AM
yeah definatly a nice style- I still think the snow is a bit dark looking, but not bad.
21-02-2004, 02:34 AM
thanks, Toxic, I agree about snow... workin' on it :)
22-02-2004, 07:06 PM
Perhaps adding a small amount of self illumination to the snow material may help....and a really light grey/blue in the ambient of the material. Looks interesting so far.
22-02-2004, 11:44 PM
I like the ink-toon renders. It seems pretty easy to get nice results with it...you know....no textures on your models...but not really...I kinda like your work.
Thumbs up for ya!
23-02-2004, 05:08 AM
Thanks for the comments!
Ok, here is a another update of our girl. Others are coming :)
p.s. still working on materials.
26-02-2004, 06:09 AM
More details :)
02-03-2004, 07:04 AM
ooook, here is another update.
02-03-2004, 07:17 AM
I don't like the colours...I mean orange/blu/white...they don't work toghether...(but it's my personal opinion)but other than that the models look nicely done....I'm a fan of the toon-render style...
keep it up russian!! :)
02-03-2004, 07:45 AM
Profane , you mean boots colors? Maybe you right, we'll think about it. Thank you for the support :)
02-03-2004, 08:58 AM
...well...actually I was talking about both gloves and boots....anyway don't worry...:)
02-03-2004, 09:05 AM
Profane, ok :) stay in touch.
08-03-2004, 10:38 AM
And now... :) we present you the girl's snowboard and bindings.
And I have some good news - we'll post the first scene of our series soon! Stay tuned :)
08-03-2004, 12:08 PM
Those bindings are awsome! they so real (aside from the toon render) I'm looking at mine right now, how long did it take you to make them?!?
08-03-2004, 07:10 PM
bunglo - thank you! About bindings - we did'em in couple of days.
08-03-2004, 10:52 PM
all the stuff u put in the last post were amazing to watch!U did an excellent job!
08-03-2004, 11:20 PM
your scene is amazing i like it a lot... and specialy the cel shadinc style...how did you do that? i mean can you give more detail about the shading style...keep working it's very nice...
09-03-2004, 01:10 AM
Thank you, guys! We'll try not to dissapoint you in future too :)
2 Dragonkiss - it's standart 3D Studio Max Ink'n'Paint shader - nothing special. Try it for yourself and you will see - there can be a very nice result with it. If you tweak it a little :)
09-03-2004, 02:29 AM
thanks for the tip i'm gonna try it soon....again, keep working cause it's really good
09-03-2004, 02:42 AM
i forgot to ask if you can post a wire frame view of the hole scene?
09-03-2004, 02:53 AM
Yes, we will post a wire but a bit later :)
09-03-2004, 03:45 AM
Very nice style! Very well done!! ;)
I never got nice results using Ink and Paint :grr: , allthough I had tryed a lot of times. I always lose details on the outlines...
Would it be a problem for you to send a pict of your texture settings? It would be very helpfull! thanx!!! :D
09-03-2004, 03:54 AM
Pedro Toledo, thank you! We are preparing a tutorial how to reach such result. But if you want it now - contact me by PM. :) But I advise you to wait for the tutorial - there will be more usefull information about using Ink'n'Paint shaders and how to solve some possible problems.
09-03-2004, 04:03 AM
this tutorial idea is great....do you a web site so that we can see more about you and your work?
09-03-2004, 05:02 AM
We don't have website - we do this in our free time (I mean this cartoon, but our job is 3D graphics too - in medicine).
Here is one of my projects - (o)neBike.
And if you want more pictures I can send some by email.
09-03-2004, 02:06 PM
There is a tutorial on cel' shading at 3dtotal already ( if you wanted to use that) Here are the resaults I got from it ( I did this a while back)
09-03-2004, 06:38 PM
bunglo, thanks for the info - guys, look for the existing tutorial :) But I think we'll write another one - because tutorial you are talking about is "how to make standard shader look like toon-material".
And we are using Ink'n'Paint shader. There are different results.
09-03-2004, 11:12 PM
wow..looks amazing...keep up the good work:D
10-03-2004, 01:40 AM
