thats a pretty nice design, but you should definately learn more about anatomy, muscles and proportions...

ryvick, try creating a bump map using your original texture as a template. then your scales will look more natural.

hehe yeah i suck at anatomy :o

and yeah i am workign on the bump map but it kinda gets confusing for me once i put a mix inside another mix, its like i get cross eyed :p

but anywayz thnx for the support

try to make the head smaller, to let him look bigger... mage the tail longer to balance his head... make the legs stronger to show that he can run, give him shorter arms to show that he doesn't need his arms to kill... don't give him to many horns, he is the Danger, he doesn't need and defence for his neck ;)

oh and a refernce for biped dinosaur muscles :)

Neox where did you get the great ref image? Do you know of a good site to get Dino ref.

@ryvick: you don't need to change your shape, thats just what came into my mind... try to think like nature when designing a creature... an attacker doesn't need that much armor or defense stuff (horns on his head, covering the neck) but he needs strong legs to run... etc ;)

@bradjames: well working as a lead 3d artist on a game with over 60 dinosaurs made me buy a lot of dinosaur books, this one is scanned from the artbook to disneys dinosaurs

yeah i know what u mean, the thing is i started with the head from a picture that i saw and then after i made the head i wanted to make the body too but the body in that picture was not good, so i looked around to find a better body and when the two compiled it came out like this.

once i get home i will work on that i guess and i will also post the pictures that i used for references i was very happy with the way the head came out in reference to the similarity of the picture. :D

ryvick

thnx to both the artists for their great work by the way

ok so here i changed it to the way u said it should look like Neox

i admit the head is still not as small as ur ref pic and the horns are there but i wanted it to leave it like that, this is supposed to be a fictional beast

more horns shows more raw power ;)

Looks better, but still needs some work. Add some more scary details, it looks too cute! :D

Neox :: yeah wanted to show u the model how its coming out before i finished it. so yes i am still working on it making the arms less square looking, gonna add muscle detail on the arm or try atleast :D

kaffo :: cute,... heheheh now that u say it, it does look cute. uh... how do i un-cute it, hmm... guess a scar or two on the body would do but that would come when i make the textures so later on hopefully

ryvick

how about more horns on its body to take away the cuteness factor -like so -->

kaffo
03-03-2004, 06:56 AM
hehe  yeah scars might work. "Un-cute"... :D

It looks good, but I think the arms are kind of boxy, the body needs some more muscle detail, and the teeth look too random. Keep working puny mortal :ufo: :D .

u have done some nice work so far, i like watching your progress. i think some spikes would work only on the back, not the legs and arms, and to get rid of the cuteness i say make him a little more muscular and aged, like rib defination and make his arms legs and tail have more muscle and detail to them, especially where the legs and arms meet the claws, give it a nice lip over.

and scars and dirt and cool texturing will make it nicer too. i dig the model so far and i think the face is awesome. keep it up

like what has been said before, i think that the arms are too boxy. also, if your going to add those spikes, i wouldn't add them to his back legs, my 2 cents ...

ryvick

kaffo :: scars are in *thumbs up*

Phynius Gauge :: thnx, the arms i am stil workign on, might put in another finger to add more depth instead of boxy arms like a thumb. The body will hopefully get more detail from textures or on the actual model. Oh by the way, i make mistakes all the time and try to learn from them as well, thats how mortals are they try to perfect that but never reach it ;)

Superkid :: thnx a lot, i am gonna see if i can get away with the detailing by using the displacement map or bump but still if i cannot then i will alter the actual model itself. The lipover hmm.... see i was thinking of skin degrading right onto the nail (yeah i know it sounds nasty) thus giving the illusion of it being fierce. and thank you for appreciating the head by itself cause thats what i really put detail in and started because of it too

UnsteadyTeddy :: yeah heheheh the bones dont worry about the arms and legs one but expect the ones on the spine, i am trying to figure out the best way possible to put them on his back. the other spikes on his body was just me being carried away using photoshop (wanted to make it look like doomsday, supermans enemy) :D

I wish I understood what that was like, good thing I'm not a mortal ;) .
