I'm modeling a car in max and I am having this issue when I apply the meshsmooth.
the corner is chamfered which I want it to be so that the corner will be sharp and not rounded but when I render it, the flat part on the outside is smoothing over the whole corner. I have had this problem before...is there a simple solution?

Grab all the verts to your mesh and hit weld with a threshold of 0.5.......that should work

no i dont want to connect them all I want them to hold their shape when I turn the meshsmooth on and not round off like it shows its doing in the render.

Try and 'chamfer' the edge ever so slightly - the mesh smooth modifier will then create a sharp crease at the desired point.

dude i already said i did that. "the corner is chamfered which I want it to be so that the corner will be sharp and not rounded "
u can tell cuz its not a one-edged corner. no matter how much i chamfer or tesselate it, it always does this stupid thing.

post some more pics of different angles so its easier for us to understand what the specific problem is.
I know what your trying to do but i need to see some angles so I can better recommend some techniques.

try the classic sub-d instead of nurms
