I'VE been drawing this whell chair, and I can't make it look real. I don't know if the problems are lighting, textures or ....

Any tips will be apreciated.

Thanks

It's lighting :)

Also add some dirt and scratches.

Thanks.

Can you be a little more specific about what kind of lightinf i should be using.

I don't want to put scratchs because i want it to look brand new.

Thanks

Looks good already, but maybe your tires could use some profile (is that the right word?) for grip.

tread^^

but anyway..... what you need is a skylight..... so if you know how to use the light tracer plugin that comes with max [if your using max5] then use that.... :D thats pretty much all its missing to me

i don't know how to use the skylight yet, but i'm goong to try it. It's frustrating all the changes that im doing and I still can't improve it

the Brazil render can do the realism that you looking for... tho the lighting that came with 3dsmax could make it...

ah, the model is very cool....

cheers

Use Scanline renderer with Light Tracer or get Brazil and use GI.

Ok, I'm going to try with brazil renderer.

I drew the model three years ago. It was my graduation project. I drew it in Mechanical desktop.

brazil will help, but even if it's brand new it is never 100 % clean
try adding a specular level map to it, to simulate finger prints and/or some very small scraches

does it look better???

I changed the textures and the lighting, I think it looks better but not realistic as i want

It looks like it's floating.

Download Brazil 2.0 its free. It's called Rio and it has all the features, the only limitation is the resolution which is limited to 5xx x 3xx.

ignanacho:
hey man...the modeling is really cool

regrading ur renders:
have you given vRay a try?
to be honest...
it takes quite a while to understand some renderers

ive tried brazil - but was too complicated for me
and i really didnt knw how to use it
so i gave vRay a try - and was really impressed by the renderings!
fR is also wicked!

but i love & use vRay as much as possible.
you can check out the gallery here (http://www.vrayrender.com)

regarding your lighting:
to make it more realistic you need GI or
need to fake it!

to fake it: you can try dome of lights...
there are plugins i guess (dont really know where you can find em though)

the score is... creating a huge dome of light, lowering their light intensities (.01 - .05: totally depending on ur scene)
and then creating a strong light.... which would give you some nice hard shadows.

i hope this helps you...
give it a try, and if you any quest. would love to help :)

Keep it up man!
and please show us some results too. :)

Here is my quick example of faking GI
you can check out the screenshots out here (http://www.geocities.com/gwandi_no69/fgi/index.htm)

its just an example, i know a little tweaking would make it better...
but anyways, just wanted to show what you can achieve with scanline. :)

me scanline render:

Thanks g69!!

I'm going to download the v-ray and give it a try. About the light dome, my render was made using one, but I Think I still have to work on the settings.

I did the dome with all the lights. And spot light and this is the result. I think it looks better but it still doesn't look like I want

Does anybody know how to make the reflections look better??

I want it to look like a stuio photo, that's why i'm using that background. Maybe i have to light the background a little bit more.

i think you need to give HDRi's a try... please check this site out
http://www.debevec.org/ and do check the galileo short if you havent... its a must (enrite movie rendered with HDRi lighting)

there are some nice tutorials on hdri's on 3dtotal.com, you should try going thru them as well

download the free demo rendering engines, vRay, Brazil or maybe Final Render (not sure if the offer demos)

i think this would be helpful to you... :)
