detailing pics arent working for me. But since you decided to post on my thread I thought I would see what you were up to and help out. I think it is nice so far. Hood is looking good. Roughly how long did it take you to do those. I tried a spline tutorial and it didnt work out for me, so I'm a meshy kinda guy lol. Keep up the good work :)

Thanx for the comments...
i know its real early stage of modeling the car...
but just wanted to know how it is turning out. :)
i did the splines in about 1 hour or something....
and then arranged the vertices according to the blueprints...
added & removed the un/wanted edges.
that was day 1 and went to bed ;)
and then the next day the hood. (some 30 mins there).
i am too damn slow with cars :(
anyways Fluous, i know splines are a bit confusing in the beginiing... but i really like working with them to create a rough shape.
plus you can start testing it out... and if you need any sorta help..
i'd love to help :)

Hey Raven, how you doing?
your the one doing Audi TT. isnt it?
well...i am watching ur progress and would say your doing a great job, plus cant wait to see it done. :)
ok. i created half of the car, as you can see...
mirrored it on X-axis.... then selected all the middle vertices.
non-uniform scaled it down to 1. along x-axis...
and then WELD - "TAAADA".
hehehe, i hope you understand that... if you need any
graphy representation - lemme know!

ill keep track of this thread, looks like its coming out good. for the hood indents, did you select and then extrude then chamfer, or just extrude and meshsmooth, or something all different lol...gotta go do the daily run to keep me in shape..be back in 2 hours lol...jk one, takes me like 12 minutes :), but the rest of the people...i have to wait for..btw keep it up, looking gooodddd:D

chamfering the edges and extruding the polys depends
on how complex the object is getting...
if the object is complex: to keep it real simple i usually extrude the polys :)
low-res, object: chamfer edges.
thanx for watchin my thread. :)
i am waiting for your updates as well :)
L8ers
bumpers, hood and the car itself.
pls note: the car mesh vertices need to be aligned.
ill do them 2moro :)

I'm have trouble with welding all those verts, can u show that graphic!!! BTW, excellent detail work, do u know a good spling tut that shows where to place the actual splines???

anyways here is the link (http://www.g69.greatnow.com//tut/weld/) for welding stuff i did for you.
Enjoy, and happy modeling ;)
Hey Ray: Thanx man! :)
i wish i model sumthing as good as you do... lets see :)

Aight, thanks for the tut. I'm having trouble with the seams around my headlight, since its a weird shape, come check my thread, and i never know where to put the splines when i do it that way

L8er :) Thanks69 hi.I think your doing great.We don't have to see.YOUR there man.You work the splines like a pro dude.:D
Thanx Ray! :D
el_crni: i started off with spline cage...added surface modifier
and then converted it to editable poly...
and then, there the real part begins.... :)
Thanx for showing interest in cars.
EF_studios: Mirror modifier is good way to go about
mirroring somthing, but with cars, we dont see 2 gas tanks do we?
besides i like working with the whole car mesh.
Yup, sure is a nice car :D

Yo 69, just looked at this again, thanks for the graphic. I was looking at the hood, and where the bottom of the hood meets the bumper, there's a bit of overlap. Anyway, how do u know where to place the splines, i know to make a quad cage, but do u know of a good tut that doesn't tell u to make a "spline cage," but shows u how?
Looks nice dog

oh as i said, my mesh aint final yet...
yup i know there is an overlap... i need to adjust the car
details so that they match up with the hood...
ill do that in the end...
and regarding splines... did you try reading through the
tutorials which ship with 3Ds max?
sure thing, ill pull out some sites for you to have a look who
they modeled with spline...
L8ers
small update1.
please note: the mesh needs adjustments!
will do tht later while detailing the car body....
update 3:
last for 2day... workin atm :P

Thanx Kujoe...
here are more before i hit the bed..
Last for now...
C&C are welcome
The Side:
wow man .. looking better !
but you should use less polygons ;) and let meshsmooth do the trick ;)
also very impressive that it only takes 1h for you to do a splinecage.. I takes for me usually 5h (very detailed).
if you would like so see my wip cars please visit my page www.mibost.com
thx

Thanx,
yup i am low poly modeling it...
the wire you see with the shaded view is meshsmooth to 1
i just checked out ur work..
man its really excellent...
but man, why do u do the splines soo accuratly?
i just take out the basic shape of an object with splines
and then model it. :)

good work!
But I think the body is a little bit too round,I think we are using the same way to model it,poly + meshsmooth, what iteration value you use?

i agree the body still is too round...
actually i havent started detailing body....
yup i think we both are using the same way...
but urs look much better...
my modeling iterations are set to 1
(i usually keep it turned off while modeling, use it when need
to see how its turning out...)
the rendering iterations are 3.
i hope urs the same case as well.
nice modeling , but i think u might finish the car b4 starting playin with doors and things

aint getting time to model :( i have studies - plus my exams!
oh well - one month and then ill be back with modeling
full time :D
Thanx Dr.N :)

the tires look asome i like the rims well done.
although the creases between hood and the rest of the body seem a little too tooooo sharp. if ya want i can show ya how to fix that cuz i've seen it in other places too

thanx, yup i know they are pretty sharp...
so sharp tht one would not think of touchin it ;)
i knw i need to adjust em... i sure will
when i do, that would be near end to my model!
plus more edges need to be chamfers to get some nice
sharp edges! :)
