Well been a long time since I posted updates to this so I figured it needed a new thread. Couldnt find the other one either, lol. This particular update is More texture based. Played some with procedurals and Brazil Rio for rendering. Thats why the shots are so small, max resolution of Rio! Anyway, here it is so crit away!

its good....the bump map is cool....the texture of the cloth looks strange...its a falloff right? ....maybe ur going to change that!

Thanx. Yeah the jackets is just a simple falloff effect I'm planning on doing something with it judt do'nt know what. The head looks better with something to carry it tho so I just threw it in for the render. But the emphasis is on the head.

Update. Took me time lol. Had no inspiration but now its flowing again. So here we go. Pretty large update since last time. Things I will tace care of and know are off is the mouth, I'm gonna redo that since its all wierdoed. More detailing at areas that lack it, like the back of the head. And so on and so forht. Cut cut cut..weee. Anyway. Not more to say. I leave the words to all of you instead.

All maps are procedurals. I use cellular for the skin and the leather vest. Instead of using just bump I set teh displacement to 1 and copy a instance of teh bump material to that. Gives better result imo.
Oh and btw. Model made with 3ds max 6 and rendered with brazil r/s 1.2

Did some riggin las night. Used a CS rig. I am aware of the head slightly deforming. I have hose region set to rigid but still it keeps doing it.
First picture is a postest, second is the animations last frame. And the animation is the link at the bottom of it all.

Wow...331 view 6 replies, of wich only 2 aqrent mine lol. Aaanyway. Worked on lower body. Have the garments ready and the pants too. U wont see them fully here but some. Got him fully rigged now. Some minor deformation misshaps going on in te thumbs so I'll fix those but overall his moving niceley. Heres a posetest.

Lol...its not penetrating him. it goesjust behind his back. thing is that the after effects low that you get in max does that effect. So its just the glow that shines through a bit.

Yello. Heres one of the action poses I was thinking of doing. This one is the standard stance ready and concentrated...with a bit of anger hehe. I think I'lll do the dune sea lower so it melts into the horizon and with some postworks add a bit of sandust flying around If I dont pull it off with a particle system. Thats it for now. :smoke:

I iz gots an updaaate 4 yall. Done some animating work. Seeking thoughts on that in major. I know some deforms are a bit offish.The animation is an attemt at Trinitys kick from the Matrix. But I'm pretty happy with the progress of it. Nothing changed in the model thats worth mention. Have so lil time to do this. Oh n btw..if u dont like the animation..then just look at the picture :D

The animation looks kind of strange. Im not sure if its just the lack of a background to indicate movement, but it looks like he doesn’t jump up at all. Its as if he just lifts his legs up kicks and put them down again without ever gaining any height.
The chest part of the torso also looks a bit strange (more apparent in the animation). The chest looks like its someones back. Its almost as if the head is on backwards. Maybe the shoulders are set too far back? Im not sure, but it looks strange

Mmmk, to me the chest looks ok. Hez not a very large chested fella. And no I'm not gonna use the ususal " but hes an alien, he looks different". I'll take a look at it. Could get a bit more defnition there perhaps.
Heres teh animation with some envirometn, a very VERY simple one might I add hehe. Erm..about the camera switch...its unintended. The cam bugged out...probably when I scaled the time, but I didnt notice it...I did this about 3 am so I'll blame my eyelids. So I am aware of that. Now you can see him jumping and liftnig off.
Heres the animation again. New things are: time scaled down to half, enviroment added, sound added, unintentional camera bug added. The cam bugs out at the end of the bullet time and makes it look like I switc cams. But I dont, it wasnt intentional. I'll fix it but in the meantime you can slash this up some. looks pretty cool. i like the detail in the head that you put in, like the scars and such. Not sure but i think the shirt in the shoulder, arm pit area is teaking a little when the arm moves up...might just be a bad viewing angle tho. Good job and keep it up!

man i hate jarring camera motions like that you should really just stick to a static cam, or just the matrix spin nothing else but good char motion. the foot looks od though i think cuz there is no motion in it. minmick that kick in real life your self and see how your foot moves.
