Lets think like this..

Everyone say.. You get bad eyes by watch tv or play alot computer games.. But that is not true. I have been playing games over 14years now and i am front this computer ALOT of my time.. And my eyes are ust great.

The cause why ppl get bad eyes is becouse they read alot.
( U lie ).. Lets say this

i know a guy that was playing alot Quake. But when he started in School the 3 last years(upper secondary school?) Did he start to study ALOT and after ust some month did he get so bad "eyes" so he could not even sit in the classrom far back to read the "board?".. Samething with a guy that cant see a thing without his glasses.. If he take them off cant he even see his hand . And this guy is studying ALOT... ...

One thing same like the other he was playing alot soccer and indoor bandy. But when he started in the school did he read alot and ust after som month did he get glasses..
I have alot more example . But the time is late... Buhu
------------------
- "Why do you think alot of teacher's have glasses.. well almost all of them have it" -
Ust a thing
:D
---- Well i will not destroy my eyes :)
--------------------------------------------DOh!

PS.. the same thing is with teeth.. Dont brush alot.. It ust give u more holes.

's true. Pay attention to how close your head is to the book you're reading some time. How does that compare to the distance to the computer screen when you're using it?

Of course, looking at a monitor is like looking at a lightbulb. you can get some serious eye strain, especially if your monitor flickers.

Anyway, good point there Downup

good to hear scientific proof here on threedy. All proved by a small test group one demographic area.

At least i can resume my eye poking knowing that its reading that will ruin my already bad eyes.

*resumes eye poking*

And never look to close at the screen.....especially when you look at an 21 inch screen (like me).:!!!:

I had my screen at my work too close for a long time (like 30 cm), and then I had some really problems with my eyes :ufo:

Well mine do too, but since birth, because my eyes are shaped wrongly (so I need either laser surgery or cilinder glasses, for now i'm going with the glasses)

yeah mine as well aren't shaped 'right, you mean stigmatism? (is that how you spell it?) Anyhow that's what I have and it's pretty strong, my prescription would only be like -.7 and it is -3.4 or something like that cause of it.

stigmatizm? No idea... just know that your eyes are supposed to be a ball, and mine are cilinder (egg) shaped...

So basically the only place that it's actually focused rightly in, is the very very centre, and the farder from the centre you go, the less focused it is.

Though with my new glasses, I don't see double anymore, which is a good thing.

While being to close to a screen or print may hurt your eyes, I belive that alot of it has to do with genetics. I have had glasses since I was 6, and beside sitting to close to the TV a few times, I never really did much to hurt my eyes.

yeah I was thinking of getting laser eye surgery, I had the cash and the appointment and everything, but I realised there was too much risks. You can see fine for 6 months, then have to go back again and again and again. Or they can just botch it, and it can get worse, or even blindness. I figure, as long as I can see with glasses or contacts, laser eye surgery is just a last resort if it gets too bad.

Yeah Sessy that's what stigmatizm is, the eye is not shaped right, apparently mine is an oval, like you said, egg shaped. Although yours must be worse, I don't see double, just very blurry and distance bigger than 12 feet.

Fusion, my father's tried it.

You're right, it can go wrong, that's why they never do more than one eye at a time, with a time period in between of about 4 years. Which means that if you've got a strong cilinder, you're screwed, you're gonna see double as hell for four years, then a year more, since eyes take long to get used to cilinders, and even longer to get used off them.

Also, my father's not quite as happy with it as he was at first, couple of years after the operation, his vision started plunging into the minus real quickly, on the operated eye that is.

As for my eye-doctor, he's advising me to wait until they improve the technology some more, it's only a matter of time, it's already safer than it was say 8 years ago
