very awsome nice and clean :D, looks like you just used crease in the meshsmooth option?? looks to sharp for a camfer :D awsome cant wait to see more :)
legato
12-03-2004, 12:04 AM
thanks for the comments guys
BlackWolf : yes i use splines
Ninto & R2Wrace2win : i use nurms with the rule of 3 applied (3 edges to make a sharp edge..the closer they are together, the sharper edge u get), i also use some chamfers here and there but not the crease in meshsmooth...i get more control of the mesh with the rule of 3...
ok small update...rendered the tire quickly...the rest of the body is , well...very "rich" in polys so render takes quite some time....so i may have to revise the mesh for a but...

Thats the madest skyline i've ever seen, its so wide it makes the car look as short as a mini cooper!!!!
Very nice model keep it going.

Androgs: terima kasih!! :D
Mystikos: thanks man
g69: thanks for the comment dude...im modelling the 2003 JGTC Calsonic Nissan Skyline so thats all the kits....(too bad Calsonic going to use the Z for this yr's JGTC..skylines are such good cars despite of their heavy body)
anyhow..i was looking for refs for the decals...found most of the but i cant seem to make out the decals on the tail wing's side panel...if anyone could at least tell me what it says i'd be greatfull

dude... how'd you model the body? you find any tuts on NURBS in max?
whenever i try to use NURBS in max it gets me hot and bothered and i usually end up playing Quake 3...
legato
18-03-2004, 12:14 PM
i poly model the body...no nurbs man...yeah it gets me down too so i tend to stick to poly modelling...
anyhow..tiny tiny update....finally got all the decals "decently" done...heres the tire

In the top 10 models i've seen, done well that lad!!!!
The model is amazing, the textures seem acurate and realistic but i think the car paint ruins it..............makes it look like coloured plastic

just noticed the last 'c' of calsonic on the side. Is it sposed to wrap into the filler cap?
TigerDog

Awsome model!!! :) but the paint is really letting it down :( Its way to plastic looking. But great modeling.
Can you please post some wires, Im very interested in seeing your method of modeling, is it poly modeled with meshsmooth?
legato
20-03-2004, 12:48 PM
thanks for comments and compliments guys...looks like the long hours paid off...
: about the car paint...i guess its too reflective dont u say?...have to lower it a bit...
3Dway'OLife : the C is not supposed to do that .. from the tamiya ref i have the C should be clearly a C from the view i rendered....im still figuring out how to texture that without messing up the rear bumper since its one panel with the rear fender
TigerDog: yes its poly modeled with meshsmooth
heres some quick renders of the wire (sorry for the big post :) )

Thanks for the wires they look great but they have confused me a bit, lol. With your car paint you should adding a fresnal falloff map to the reflective slot, and maybe a falloff map to the diffuse slot with the blue color you want and a darker blue as the car gets further away. Hope that made sense. Anyway It really is a great model.

i do have what u say in the mat for the paint but i bumped up the IOR to 2.5 ... i guess i just have to play with that.. to get the reflections down a notch..ill post some more renders soon
