Hey guys, just posting to see if anyone can help with a small problem i have with regard lighting - I'm using VRay with GI, just trying some stuff out and I have these weird white blobs as you can see.. anyone know why that might be, and what i can do to get rid of them? I'm thinking maybe i have some unwelded verts, but not sure.. also could be using too few samples.. anyway, confused!
any crits also welcome :)
i dont thinkso this is right thread...
but did you try rendering it with scanline...
and plus are you using distributed rendering for this scene?
i myself have been using vRay for quite a long time...
but never have come across such an error...

thats looking great, sorry i can help with vray.
will you texture this proprely?
i thin it would look great as is with some mats and as a black and white city scape
use scatter or CS to create bussling crowds and some birds overhead ,. maybe some telephone wires?
wow :D i think iwill make a city scene next. or try and get a team to make a detailed city fly through - and on the side make it run through a game engine :) . such as lithtec .
good luck

I work with vraay at my work, and i know this problem.
i can't really tell what it is, but almost always it's because of the low quality render.
And if that's not the case, take a look at your textures...vray can't handle some certqain textures....
you use vray free or vray advanced?

thanks guys. i am using VRay Free, but I just changed it to the demo version to try that out, and also grabbed the new Free version.
Anyway, I found the problem, which is that I was using a projector map in the main direct light shadows!
thanks for the encouragement cgstripe, i am making this scene as part of an animation for my university final year. I'd like to add crowds but don't really have enough time to model/texture so many different characters.. but perhaps if i find a spare half hour! otherwise yes I am texturing it, a lot more modelling yet in terms of smaller details, and then onto texturing.
After that I am going to make it look old for another scene, and have plenty of plant life overgrowing the buidlings/streets. Perhaps burst a tree out of the middle of the street. I am also adding a car crash at the junction, and other vehicles lining the sides of the road.
But for now I am working on the written side of the project, 10000 words which are worth more (x3) than the whole animation, which i find very odd and annoying since i am doing a cg course..
