Interesting design, I like it :)
the only things I crit is that it needs some rounding maybe and I do wonder how the bullets would be fed into the barrel, what with the magazine having an angle like that

well it fires 2 .40 cal bullets at once , t come up through the clip and the cartridge advance moves 2 up and it shoots the 2 rounds.
there are 2 chambers in the gun and the feed slide is at the top and the ejection port is right behind the barrel and then there are 8 rounds in chamber. 20 round .40 clips

I have no crits with the modelling - but I am really curious to know how the gun works...That magazine will make the gun harder to draw. What kind of holster will it have? Also there is no room for a firing pin between the chamber and the trigger.
With a design like that I would suggest you make it an assault rifle. Its too bulky to be a pistle.
You may also want to put add a grenade launcher and perhaps a flame thrower as well

Is this your concept? I was just wondering as I was browsing for firearm concepts and found the concept art for this gun at http://oni.bungie.org/imagery/concept_art.html. it's concept gun 3. For all I know this is your site but I thought I'd mention it as there are debates on how the weapon would function.

Yeah I think for a begginers tutorial it'd be good, it's a simple and pretty cool design and I think people would learn quite a bit while making a decent looking gun.

christ, the magazine loads so close to the front of the gun that there would not be enough room to even chamber a bullet...the barrel length would be less than 0, compared to guns 3 times smaller with 4" barrels! I sure hope this doesn't become the new standard issue...kidding

texture the gun with that "brushed metal" look - very much the same colors as the 2D image above and make it look like it has seen action on mars or the third moon of Jupiter hehehehe... I'm sure it would look great. Just a thought :o
