We are right on the edge of seeing a whole slather of new technology coming out in the next few months. Practically all of it will be replacing what has been standared for years, so what are you guys most interested in seeing(or dreading to see)?

Intel's new socket 775 replacing the 478

PCI Express replacing AGP

DDR2 replacing DDR

the new BTX/mobo form factor, replacing the old ATX/mobo case.

I m looking foward to AMD's new socket for CPU

Of course Im glad for PCI-X, DDR-2, and BTX.

I think BTX will be the most interesting though, as I love to build computer systems.

Out of that list, I have to say I'm looking forward to PCI Express replacing standard PCI and AGP the most.. It's about time they increase the bandwidth on the PCI bus. =]

Another "next gen" technology I'm really looking forward to is "blue ray" or blue laser DVD burners. The ability to store 30-40+gigs on one DVD, and a single potential standard for DVD burning is something I've been waiting for for a long time now.

It's some what funny since right now graphic cards can't bottleneck the 8x AGP (2.1 GB/s) , so we are really going to be lagging behind when PCI-E quadruples that to 8GB/s

I'm glad that is will take years to totaly phase out the AGP slot, hopefully graphic card makers will keep making AGP cards at a much cheaper price.

I'm really looking forward to the pinless LGA-775's, not that I'm some intel fan boy but I've been waiting for a new PC and since all this will be coming out there's no point in buying a socket 478.
