Hi Everybody, The name of my character is Lapu-lapu. He's the first filipino hero here in Cebu City, Philippines. This is my own interpretation of Lapu-lapu. This is still work in progress. I do hope this could help on the things that I lack or things that I need to improve. I would like to thank you in advance for giving time to view my work. Thanks, and hope to hear from you all soon. Happy modelling!!!

its very nice modeling work . and texturing , but the composition leave a lot to be desired
the readabilty of the image is compromised by the detial in every part of the image.
The floor takes away the eye from the actual character. and the shield does the same.
i think maybe a more expressive facial pose also . it seems a bit lifeless.
otherwiseyou have a very nice model :) nice one.

Hi Dragonkiss, thanks. Here's the wireframe. I started everything by using a simple plane, then slowly shift+LMB the edges to form the shape of the head, body, arms, legs, and accessories. It's a painful process, but you gotta have patience and dedication to do 3D stuff. Im currently using 3D Max 6, but I am just an intermediate user, I still have to dig deeper into it, put more time and stay up late once in awhile. : ) I always like to do Modelling and at the same time Texture it, even my model isnt finish yet, because it inspires me to go farther. I am also slowly learning Maya 4.5, just for me to have a lil background on it. Maybe next time I could post my Maya Character, hopefully. My next character will be a Dragon. Ill keep you updated. Thanks Again for taking time to view my work.

Hi Dragon Kiss, The textures that I use are pictures of my own body, from the face, chest, arms, fingers, and legs. I use photoshop. I separate the head, hands, chest, back, hands, fingres and legs before i textured them. I add uv map then unwrap uvw, print screen it, then paste it to photoshop, that's when I slowly adjust the image texture to the print screened image of my characters uv map. I dont know if my process is long, but its my way of texturing it, and im comfortable with it, but if somebody could give me a better process, then it would be a great thing to follow. : ) do you have a character that you working on right now?

Try and remove the cylinder which your character is standing on and instead place a spot or directional light in it's place but EXCLUDE the character on the diffuse and shadow effects and don't forget to place a plane under it.

hello owenc1979,
i think i have a technik that will be easyer for you, instead of print screen when you want to work with you uv on photoshop you should try textporter for max it's a little plugin that make a simple jpeg file of your UV mapping to work with photo shop or any other 2D software, you can find it at:
http://www.cuneytozdas.com/software/#Texporter
and me personnaly i working on some stuff but i will post it when it will be ready...otherwise you can see my last work at:
