Here's a new character that I'm working on.
He'll be like a jester with 4 or 5 masks with different personalities.
The hat(looks like a hood right now) will have bells on it.
Still have several things to tweak on the head too, no textures on it yet, only thing that is textured right now is the eyes.

The mask that he'll be holding in his hand, the other masks will be hanging on strings attached to his clothing

niiiice! i like it (as i like all your works ;))
just a suggestion, the stick on the mask cover his mouth, it's hard to speak with, i think you'll better attach it to a cheek of the mask (usually only the full mask, that cover all the face, have a central stick).
PS: sorry for the bad english, i hope you understand :p

Nice one, though I think the masks must have more extreme expressions. I guess this is just the "base mask". As GordaN said, maybe the stick should be attached on the side of the mask.

yep agreeing with both of them work is great but mask should be more expresif and stick would look more fitable on the sides nothing more to say exept I 'd like to see a wire to get an idea of your mesh form...
keep us updated

very nice, i have no criticisms. i agree with the other guys on the stick / expression issues. the only thing is in order to convey some cool expressions i think you'd need more than a half-mask, it'd have to show the mouth...OR it might also be cool if you kept it as a half mask, and then made it so the characters lower half of the face expertly contorted itself to match the expression that the half-mask was showing on the upper half :) i think that would be the best. also the nostrils don't really seem to exist, but that doesn't bother me...it just makes him more cartoony. if you do define the nostrils, make sure not to make the nose wider because i like it skinny like you have it.

Thanks guys;)
I'll see what I can do about the stick, like you said, maybe put it out on the side, Good point
The first mask is just a base mask, the other masks will have more extreme expressions and a couple of them will be full lenght
Here's another update

Looks very cool, but the forehead is bugging me a little. Maybe the folds are too strong? I dont know, it's just a little strange to look at.
But, other than that it's again a very good job.

nice duck! it looks really nice, how do u model so fast, honestyl man?! From the childrens book project to this, geeezz.. it looks real nice, except I always thought that those masks had the sticks on the side? not up the nose ;)
Yeah the forhead is kinda weird..it looks as though it's taking the wrinkles a long time to be wrinkled..if that makes any sense?

Thanks guys;) Fixed the forehead, is that better?
Added more stuff and tweaked some more.
About the mask I saw one like that with the stick up the nose, but moved it to the side.
You can can create a model pretty fast with boxmodeling, Neiy0 and a lot of practice;):p

Looks pretty good, two crits tho : the red in the background is too vivid, red is a color that commands attention and it's taking the focus off of your model, I think you should mute it. I also think the lighting could use a little bit more more before making it final. that's about it :)
Edit : actually you might wanna switch/interchange the deep purple on his shirt and the background color.. dunno how i'd look tho ^^

i wouldnt switch the colors of the background to the model and vis versa..but i would make the red darker/crimson..its looks nice apart from that..but something with the string doesnt look quite right..to..white? it lookslike it needs to be more clothy..:)

Here's what it looks like in LightWave before it renders it.
This is just great :) I don't realy know what else to say, I just love it.
I liked the red and orenge background better (you need some contrast between character and background)

Hi! very cool model! love it!
just one thing - usually when something hangs from your clothes it pulls the clothes a little bit down.. i don't believe seeing this on your model (or maybe my monitor is too dark)!
Very good work!
hey rubberduck, thsi guys wicked cool. Im glad you put that paint on his face. Is he supposed to be an entertainer? if so i would imagine him with brighter colors but its up to u! I liek him :)
rubberduck
08-04-2004, 08:09 PM
Thanks guys;) Hope you still like him, because I changed several things & colors.
You may not be able to see it, but I did try to make it look like the fabric is being pulled down just a little on the elbows.
He's not really an entertainer, he's kinda of evil and makes fun of people and they try to avoid him in their path, anyways, here's an update and maybe the final render too?;)

I really like the new color sheme!
just to be annoying, one last crit.. :P it looks like a cloth backdrop but the stripes on the material go straight down, kinda hard to tell if it's a billboard with whispy threads at the bottom or very rigid cloth :P good work tho, I'm really liking this as it is.

Thanks:) :)
About the striped curtain, I thought about that too, hmm, the curtains are really thick and heavy that's why it's hanging straight down, I don't know, what do you think guys? Should I change the way the striped curtain is hanging?
chaos_seed
09-04-2004, 11:08 AM
hy rubberduck !Don't think that you need to change it the idea is pretty good but maybe you sould try to make it more like curtain Idon't know mayabe a fiew ripples could do or just make those a bit like velvet .Problem is it does'nt really look like curtain but more like paperwall but I must say I don't have exact solution ...

Ok, made some small changes & some changes to the curtain too, I think it looks better and I've posted it in the Finished section. Thanks for the suggestions;)
MrArmless
11-04-2004, 07:58 AM
I don't think the curtains themselves need to be changed, I just think that no fabric no matter how heavy would hang so perfectly down, I think they need a bit of ondulation, something to break how perfect the stripes are.
