hey, you are missing the thing that hangs under the moose's neck

also the rack looks really messed up

other than that it looks good

Oh yeah. It's still WIP, you know :-)

The hair is still missing (pretty hard to model that out, hehe), the eyes are only temporary and the horns are also bothering me.

Thanks for the crits!

well i think that the thing that hangs under the neck is actually a large flap of skin (which can vary from a couple inches to like 8 inches long), not just hair, so that's why i mentioned it

That was kinda my reference - So I'll just keep that and model hair at the neck, to give the head shape a little more "support".

More crits?

perhaps more teeth?

Well, from the looks of it you ARENT going for realism. You are going for a cartoony moose. And if you are which I really belive you are then it looks perfect right now. The teeth that you have set a personality to it. I dont think you should add more because then it would take away from the persona of the moose. I say keep up the good work. He looks really cool right nowl

Thanks for the crits, guys!

@Stuh505: Yeah, I'll add some molars, but you won't see them clearly in a probile shot. Its more like, if he's angry and pulls his lower lip down, you'll be able to see them.

@bullethead: Thanks, man! :-) Yeah, I'm actually going for a very cartonny moose, I already created some animation tests and when animated he looks pretty hilarious - Thats what I was going for. In the final animation, he'll be yodeling.

Sorry for the bad light setup - I'll set up my own lighting scheme in the final animation!

Ey, cute character, my only comment is that the horns? or I dont know how its called... it's too symmetrical, maybe you coudl tweaking the other horn a lil. just a suggestion : )

I also don't know what they're called, but lets stay with 'horns' :-)

Yeah, I already tweaked the horns a lot. I'll upload more pics later. After I'm totally satisfied with their shape, I'll throw a lattice onto the second and change the shape a little.

In the renderings above the horns are much too small and the shape reminds me of claws - not really what I wanted...

I also undetailled them a little, it was too much contrast with the extremely comical shape of the moose.

Keep the crits coming! ;-)

I love the style...it looks very cool. I do have one thing that sticks out and that is around the eyes...that area looks too indented or something...

keep up the good work

Looks great, I'm love it, but something about the ears looks wrong IMO(I know it's a cartoon version),but still, maybe they are up too high?;)

Thomas Mahler

Hey Rubberduck,

Thanks,

Well, yeah, the ears are not 100% satisfying, but I guess when it's rigged and textured (fur) it'll look pretty good. At least I hope so.

By the way, I really like your work!

i think the problem with the ears is that they are too pefect in shape meaning there's no dents or curves to them, they are a perfect oval shape. I'm not sure what you could do and I also know that a real moose has ears like this, they just stick out in comparison to everything else.

Love your work.

looks great man :)

I still think the antlers (yes, that's what they're called :p ) need work tho. They reach teh broad flat part too suddenly- it should get wide and flat a bit more gradually imo. Also, the ears might look beter if they were downswept, like in this pic--

LOL, i don't remember that quote being in the movie....
This is great, I thought of brother bear when I first saw this model, so you're right on track. If you're wondering why I watched this movie, it was cuz I wasn't old enough to get into any R movies and all the pg-13 ones were sold out...it was really sad but we ended up watching brother bear. But I'm seventeen now! ;)

I think the top of the antlers is all that needs to be worked on right now. Maybe you can tack this guy to a wall, trophy yeah? :D

That looks pretty damn cool. I like it, Has alot of character to it.

Keep up the good work.

Looking forward to seeing it animated.

How are you going to do the fur by the way?

looks awsome..but the antlers are not correct, as u know, they should be all together, and if you are going for that bowl look for the antlers, it would look better if you made them all connected and one object..if u get what im saying?

I really like the moose though, it has A LOT of character, and def. has potential;)

Okay, I'm not as fast as I thought - I just got a Wacom and worked quite a bit with ZBrush, so I lost the sight of my animation rig a little...

I just tested a few shapes, hope you like them:

Heres a shot of my joint-setup:

http://members.chello.at/anna.mahler/moose_wire_02.jpg Sadly it's already pretty old, I've built in a few more joints to get more control over his mouth.

Crits are highly appreciated!

i really like this thread..the moose looks like the moose from brother bear, and the facial expressions are great so far;)

Alright, I tweaked a lot since the last update, the most work has gone into the animation controls. There are still no animation presets built into the NURBS Curves, but the animation rig is pretty much finished.

I still have to weight the skin/fur thing under his head, but other than that I'm ready to go.

I'm also working on textures/fur shading, but that'll still take me some days:

Okay, the first LipSync Playblast - The voice is not really appropriate and it's the first time I seriously do LipSyncing, so be nice! ;)

Ah, XVID required!
