this is one with the window meshes in place, mind you, all the panels are separate objects, since i intend to make a set of panels as in modification options, one more thing, can anyone tell me how to model the reflectors of the front lights cause i can't seem to get them right

it looks really nice so far. Are you using poly or spline modeling? those are some nice cuts... i think i'm doing mine wrong....

I can't wait to see what yours is going to look like... keep us updated

hey, your ferrari looks ok, the only thing is you need to learn to work with meshsmooth and vertex weights (finish the nissan and fiat turtorials, or at the very least read them, u learn loads by actually doing someone else's models first) + don't put such a bright material on your work in progress, since it makes it look a bit crappy and it's sometimes harder to see errors (but that's just my opinion), use a normal material, then, when ur finished apply textures. by the way, where did u get the free version of brazil and the hdri maps? i've looked all over but can't find any free ones

Very very nice... does the test version allow you to render higher than 512x3XX?? what are the limitations on the test version? I got the Rio version.. only allows renders up to 512x3XX
Yeah probably a good idea to do the tutorials because I don't know what vertex weight is... :p thanks

test version is very old - rio is better for now - even with size limitation

it might be so, but i want big res for big prints to make posters, etc., also rio is a demo an it stops working after like 30 days or somit AND you can't save your work. here's another update

Very nice!!! how do you get thoos nice white reflections on the windows???
mr_demon
06-04-2004, 11:42 AM
and another, the reflections are just the blueprint pictures behind the car and a reflective falloff fresnel on the windows

it looks good...but i cant actually look at it properly....pleas show a closer shot of it....maybe a flat shade even.....then i'll help you with the reflection materials.....
dont worry...i am with you now....! i will do anything i can to get you to a realisitc headlight!

Co0l dude !!
//how did you made the rims .. ?

herre's a close-up, i basically made some ridges on the inside and applied max's default glass clear and chrome white materials

i got a problem with brazil, for some reason the mirrored part of the car isn't coming out quite well, the textures are all screwed up and the overlap between the two halves is also visible. is this a problem with brazil or is there a box i can tick to make this go away. i don't have this problem with the default renderer

here's another example of my prob's. by the way, i've done the rear clusters as well

that isn't my goal yet, what i want to know is why when rendering in brazil i get defects while when rendering with some other plugin i don't. here's a better smoothed out version and a funky pish eye camera effect

here is my latest update. i like the material on the roolcage, the brake discs and the exhaust, i'm happy with those, but the paint is still lacking in realism, can anyone help me with the paint? i've tried what they teach in the turtorials here but it still looks too much like plastic to me
yes i'm a perfectionist, but rn't we all when it comes to modelling?

Hey this is looking very nice dude, i think if you add abit of a scene to it, you will notice abig difference in the car paint, what sort of lighting do you have going on??
The one thing for me that doesn't fit in with the car, is the back lights, i dont feel they look as good as the rest of the car!
Apart from that it looks great, spot on!!:D
there is something really wrong with with door handel... your cuts/seems could be a little more crisp... the problem that your having with the paint is that there is nothing for it to reflect..
try putting a white plane with 100% self lum. above the car and that will give it something to reflect and give you the highlights that you need, also turn up the light, its to dark...
but over all its looking good...

here it is with some scenery. i think it turned out quite well for a first try
mr_demon

white dome + lights + black floor = very bright reflections

wow that render with the scenery looks totally realistic man, nice job!! :)
The other one with the high reflectivity..it doesnt appeal to me, simply because it is to bright..
cheers
how did you do that fish-eye-effect?
mr_demon
24-06-2004, 08:45 AM
use the camera object in max an experiment with the camera lens settings
thanks. i never knew you could do that. i know one way where you use a half-sphere and make it reflective and point the camera in the inside. i was told max's camera's couldn't do it.
thanks again.

just saw this thread recently, but do wanna say something.
nice car, I really like the bumper.
I only wouldn't choose that spoiler you've put on it and there's something wrong with the air intake on the roof.
take a look at this impreza 555:

hope this reference pic help you to perfect this car.
I hope one day you will finish it.

I agree with ef studios on the spoiler thing. I think the spoiler on you model right now doesn't truly reflect the Impreza's style and feel. but it's your model and i'm not gonna force you to change it... I,m just giving my opinion. In the whole i really like this model. great modeling.
