Chuck Palahniuk (http://www.chuckpalahniuk.net/index.php) is from Oregon! He wrote a book about it.

He also wrote Fight Club (if you've seen the movie, read the book!. If you haven't seen the movie, READ THE BOOK! =P )
Invisible Monsters, Choke, Survivor, Diary, Fugitives and Refugees (the one about Oregon), and Lullaby. And there's one called Stranger Than Fiction coming out soon.
