I've been trying to make a realistic female face for a couple of weeks, this is the result so far. I would like all your comments on how to improve it. When I feel the proportions are good enough I will try to give it a little more personality.
C&C appreciated as always!
All screens are taken in the perspective viewport.

It's a nice looking mesh, but I don't think it looks very feminine. First of all, her neck needs to be slimmer and a little longer. Also, I think the jaw should be smaller and the brows higher. I guess it also depends on how old she is... Are you following a reference picture?
I'm looking forward to see you develop the character, I think she'll be great. :)

Thanks for the comments, I'll try to work on what you've suggested, Seul. I think making the neck longer and slimmer might help a lot. She is supposed to look pretty young, when you mention it I see I need to work on that. Any other things in addition to the stuff you mentioned that makes her not look feminine that comes to you mind?
Oh yes, if it's going to be a young female character she definitely needs a slimmer neck. :)
Other things that come to mind right now are: a shorter face, smaller nose, maybe smaller and rounder lips and a smaller chin. These are the things I can think of now, I hope it helps. :)

Very nice mesh! But I hate to say it, it looks like a man to me, the only thing that looks feminine is the mouth;)

Yeah, I agree with all of you. Special thanks to SueL, very useful comments :) I've fixed (at least tried) some of the stuff, will work a little more before I post the update (probably tomorrow).

Here is an update, I've worked on all the things that was suggested, and I thinks it's heading in the right direction. Needs more work I guess, still doesn't look female enough, looks a little like a young boy I think. Suggestions appreciated :)
edit: her head is too wide, isn't it?

if you cover the top half of your character's face, you will see that the lower half does look somewhat like a female, but the jawline needs to be taken in a little.
The nose is a bit too large (wide).
the overall shape of the head is too strong for a young female. a little rounder and shorter but not the top of the head.
Hope it helps
very clean model, nice!
You're making nice progress. :)
I've looked around on the net to find some articles about differences between male and female faces. Here are 3 links that might help:

I think your character's neck should be even slimmer and longer. I also agree with benip, the nose should be narrower (the nose bridge and also the nose wings), and the jawline should be taken in more. Maybe also make the chin a little narrower and the eyebrows higher. You could also try to bring the eyes forward a little. At least to me it seems from some views that they are a little sunken in and the eyebrows seem a little heavy over them. But it could be just me. :)
But you've already made some very good changes. I'm looking forward to seeing the next steps, I'm sure she'll look better and better!

Hello, thanks for the great comments! I will try to fix all the things you've said, I think both of you you're correct on all points. SueL, great links, I will take a look! I see that there is a big problem with the eyes, they look sunken in, but in fact I think they maybe should be moved backwards a little. The problem is that the eyebrows should be higher as you mentioned, and the tear duct of the eye should be moved forward a little, to make the "connection" to the nose smoother, it looks totaly wrong as it is now.
Yes, you're right, the eyes probably don't need to be brought forward. Raising the eyebrows should help a lot, especially if it's a young character. :)
I played a little with the profile in Photoshop, pushing pixels around to see how changing the neck and a few other things might help. I hope you don't mind. If you do, please let me know and I'll remove the image.

SueL, I don't mind a bit, I really appreciate your help! It's very kind of you :) That pic will be very useful, I really see now that I need to fix the neck.
I'm working on it right now btw, I'll see if I can post an update later today. Will try to work on all the things you've mentioned.
Thank you, I'm glad I can help a little. :) Good luck with the changes! :)

Count Zero, looks like you need some references, no offence, but have you ever seen a woman before (hsa ha joking)
Its definatly a good head for a man, bu for a woman... hmm.. nasty!
I suggest you look at some refernces... see how the jaw bone, the cheeks are structure, the eyes.. the nose.. the ears, everything man..
Good lcuk!

Worked on the eyes most on this update, and made the nose more narrow. Think I made both the jaw and chin smaller, didn't change much on the neck, will work on that for next update.
Feels like the face gets a lot wider when I render it, might be the lighting that fools the eye though.

The modelling is good, very clean, but i still have to say (no offense) that it doesnt look feminine.
The neck is still a bit to short and the head have to be moved abit back.
Try to use some references! But keep it going.
I think you need to wide and expand the scalp and forehead so the face doesnt seem as large. The head is getting close though.
You have already done the hardest parts--you just need to make it more graceful. When I learned to sculpt heads(not cg ones) I always tried to focus more on female than males--because its alot easier to turn a female head into a male than vice versa. With a male head you can make it rough and get away with it.
One area i would look at is the cheeks where they meet the bridge of the nose. In the profile view it looks a bit too swollen.
Otherwise--your head reminds me of the types of female heads they used to do in Renaissance painting and sculpture--slightly fattish.
After a bit more tweaking you'll be in the 21st century!
;)
The eyes do look better now, good job. :)

Yes, I noticed that there seems to be some distortion, especially in the frontal and perspective views. You might want to increase the focal length of the camera and see if it helps. :)
The cheekbones seem a little wide, but maybe it's also because of this distortion.
Or, like kgg said, widen the top of the head (forehead and skull) to balance out the face. Later you might also want to make the ears a little smaller.
You're getting there, keep up the good work! I'm sure the texturing will make a big difference, too. :)
