I collect nothing, but I don't have very much of that. :(

I like these kind of threads! I love to collect things, mostly miniatures of the warhammer 40k universe (blood angels specifically). I'm going to be expanding my collection to more medieval/fantasy as well, probably from reaper mini's, then I'll be getting molds and such from hirstarts.com, hehe, I'm such a geek

@Fusion
I collect computers too, simply because I dont want to get rid of them. I finally threw away my first computer a few months ago, it was hard. Its not just useful stuff either; I have a 386 sitting in the hall outside my room. I dont know why I keep it, but everytime I think of throwing it away, a little voice in my head says "but it works" and so it continues to sit there...
I still have all my pre-PC computers in the attic too, I dont know why...

Well, my little book collection, if you want to call it one, currently clocks at 270 something and counting. The amount of volumes is a lot higer, e.g. I'm counting Kindler's Literature Lexikon with its 22 volumes as one book. ;)
not really many books, but always getting more and more. By the end of the year I should have 400 (I think i've got 350 now).
 You've read all of them? How old are you?

I don’t know if this applies to Chris, but this reminds me of a quote I picked up somewhere long ago
Someone is showing a guest their library (a large room in their house full of books) and the guest comments: “Have you really read all of these books? To which the owner remarks: “What would be the use of keeping a library full of books you have already read?” :D
Wow, this is great!
I'm glad people are sharing their collections (mostly books)...
:D Let's keep going - anyone else collect ANYTHING?
Thanks,
Jon.

New addition:
Paul Auster: "Disappearences".
:)
For me its books and records. I can relate to Chris about the whole "owning a bunch of books I havn't read yet" thing. Even though I look at some of them and think " I will never actually read that", I keep it around because someday I may get curious, or need it for school or something like that. I have about 110 books now, but I'm only 18 so i get a handicap.
As for records I have just about 200 now. If you like older music I highly recomend picking up a record player. If you go to a used record shop you can pick up most any album from before 1985 for less than $5, sometimes even under $1.

For Germany and Austria book prices are fixed. The publisher chooses a (reasonable?) price and has it print on the book. Whatever is printed on the book is the fixed price and bookstores may not sell it at any other price. That doesn't completely eliminate the advantage huge bookstore-chains have, but at least the small stores have a chance. For a hardcover the prize is normally around EUR 20-30,- , paperbacks are around EUR 10,-.
Now, sometimes a book goes out of print and is not re-published, or there are left overs of a series of prints, or they have little defects (seldomly the case), or a publisher goes bankrupt (and so on and so on): in these cases re-sellers can sell the books with a stamp on the side that reads "Mängelexmplar" (erraneous copy). These copies are often exrtremly cheap; i just can't walk by a harcover for a single euro!
Or I buy used books on ebay, just recently i bought 42 great books froma limited series for EUR 5,51!
Unfortunately in many cases you need a book (for university in my case) and can't find it anywhere else than in the stores at the regular price...
Paul Auster's "Red Notebook" for example is not worth 10,-! Better make some photocopies...
