I almost wet my pants!!! :p and my jaw is still sore after it hit the floor. WOW!!!
the only drawback - right at the end he mentioned that the only card thats been able to run the game at a decent rate was the geForce 6800.....and I've only just got my 5600 *sobs* guess I better get saving then

yes, engines are very beautifull, but the only inovation they bring nowadays are graphics, not fun, for instance, i prefer playng perfect dark ( a shooter for N64 , wich each character is about 600 polys maximum ) and i prefer it than unreal2003 and stuff :(
The pointis that technology will envolve, and they will start makin engines that support more polies, normal maps, etc, but the originality keeps 0, and that should be payed attention.

Its a very good point. Sometimes games get too concerned with graphics that they neglect the gameplay which basically decides the game. But wuth really quick changing times, I think if you don't have amazing graphics, amazing gameplay, amazing sound etc. then you won't do so well........things are getting REALLY demanding!!
As for the new engine, I just can't believe they can make something like that on this generations graphic capablilties. Games are really evolving fast.......we'll have virtual reality in no time
Now I gotta go clean myself up, Im covered in my own drool

Isn't it sad that I haven't played quake 1 yet:o ? It took me several years and I still havent tried it.
I loved perfect dark........that was a tough game!! and goldeneye......again great, great game(guess cause they were both made by Rare). Im still trying to get over that ak47 that looked like a crayon :haha:
Downup, how could you not like cs? The graphics are.......err.......but the game physics are......umm:roll: .......ok ok but the levels are........damn!!.......so you have a lot of reasons why the game isn't good but Im sure if you've played it a bit longer you'd be hooked. I should know from experience :)

erg! someone post a link so i can see it without looking for it! I don't wanna move my lazy butt to a search engine :p
Starwars is right though. Games aren't getting much more fun. I'm beginning to wonder if the famed Half Life 2 will be much fun after all the hype. Ah well.
I like Quake 3 style deathmatches. I didn't like UT2003, but for some reason I like the action in UT2004... Even without the vehicles. Things just gotta be tweaked I guess.

Well, they said the geForce 6800 could run the game at a decent level, I think I'd wait for an upgraded card if it can only run it like that. That is, if your buying the card to play THAT game. Other than that, the environment looks very awesome. That is how I get immersed in a game, when I feel like the place is real. That's why I don't like toon shaded games. Personally, I still can't wait for Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines to come out... and doom3... lol, but yeah, Unreal 3 looks amazing, and the 10k poly's per character seems insane to me but uber cool.

Zergling: dude don't you check out 3dtotal's front page anymore?? There are some crazy links that gets posted everyday. The game engine was on the front page but many links got it pushed off the main.
So here's the direct link to the videoUnrealEngine3 (http://download.beyondunreal.com/get.php/1/demos/unreal3_0002.wmv)

Wow, this is truely amazing....
Thats stuff thats taking us minutes to hours to render and they are simulating it pretty good in real time!
If game desgners can match this technology with a good story/gameplay, I see games becoming a lot more serious.
I want a FX6800!

yeah, I think games are no longer going to be for children......well for the most part anyway......but I think in the near future because of the ai and gameplay, kids wont be able to play them games because they will be so advanced that you will have to have the knowledge to do well in it. I would actually prefer that because everybody think games are a waste of time and there useless......but at the rate that they are being deveolped, games will be the prime source for developing the mind!!

Think how long level design and production is gonna take!
Dude, it's gonna be like making a scene in 3ds. Model, texture, light, tweak materials... gonna take days to make one level! wheesh.
