Read above title. A client of mine wants a german shepherd for his site in 3d, and possibly having an animation for it as well. But Ive been looking at google and webcrawler and cant seem to find really good muscle pics, you know the pics where there is no skin and they only show the muscles, on em. I was wondering if anyone had really good refernces for this dog or know of a site you can direct me to which has em. Thanks in advance.

This is a tough one and I have no doubt that you've had trouble locating any specific anatomy for german shepards. Count yourself lucky that you're working on a common animal such as a dog and not some exotic wild beast.

There is a book out there that you might want to get called An Atlas of Animal Anatomy for Artists.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0486200825/qid=1082381420/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-7165667-2390420?v=glance&s=books

Inside it has detailed anatomy (skeletal and musculature) for a great dane. The muscle structure is the same for every dog. You will just need to adjust for size and major anatomical differences. (possibly the best paw reference I've seen...paws are a pain to model)

Thanks a bunch Jenn for a link to that book, I just hope the client pays me in advance so I can order this and get it soon. Otherwise ill have to fish money out I dont belive I have at this moment...lol..and also thank you ironbucket for this muscle refernce and bone refernces you gave me, they help out alot. Do you think you could possibly find a top refernce of that somewhat.

And yes Jenn this is a tough one to find references for even though it is for a common dog. I just hope I can get this done soon because I need the money that is promised to me for this model. Have to pay the bills somehow:D

best of luck, I didn't find anything better myself for references. Oh, and a quick tip, always always ask for half in advance or even all of it. I've been screwed before when I was promised money, and then when I finished the model nothing was given to me. Beware the let me see the model in 3d view (you know obj format) and then I will pay you. Lots of people out to screw you out there.

Yes I agree tottally, I will start making the model once I have enough references since he really didnt set a time limit for when it should be done, but I would like to have it finished in a week at least and 2 at most. I hope by the time im finished the model I get the money because I need to get shag fur so it can be complete complete. But he wont get his hands on the 3d model because I will be putting it up on the site since I host it and build it for him. so he wouldnt be getting anything untill I see the money...;) but thanks for the advice, ill make sure later on down the road to follow it.
