I've always been interested in photography - err, to a slightly lesser degree than my interest in modeling/animation. I purchased a Canon S400 ELPH camera last year; I've gotten some decent shots, but I dunno enough about photography to understand how to use all the advanced features. Adjusting the f-stop, the shutter size, the focal length, all that stuff..

So anyhow, I was wondering if anyone had any book suggestions for learning more about photography. Err, and not just the "technical stuff" I mentioned above...but I'd also really like to read about methods for achieving a balanced composition, different poses/angles that look better, etc. =] I understand every camera is different - and of course the huge differences between standard film and digital cameras...err, but maybe a book like the [digital] series. Something thats not camera-specific, but gives very thorough explanations.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Andreas Feiniger's School of Photography.

tis not up-to-date (colour films are more expensive than b/w in his world) but it's the only one i know.

Feiniger is the son of Lyonel Feiniger, Bauhaus teacher, artists and comic drawer.

I also have a passion for a good photo or two... here are some great links, that will guid you in to this field, they will also give you more links to more indepth infromation...
But the best advice is to play with your camera.. take pictures of the same thing with different settings and look at the results, lable the pictures with the settings that you used and then you have a little ref manual
