Why do some programs/people call printing plotting? :roll:

i suppose when you print something on a plotter, you will call it plotting...

In my CAD experience most plotting was referred to as printing on the large "plotter" printers. Not too long ago they used special pens and actually would "draw" the item that was being plotted. These were large 40"+ sheets of paper.

In more recent times ive seen a lot of inkjet plotters that work just like a inkjet printer... only much larger and use rolls of >40" paper. These work better for architectural drawings with a lot of detailed hatches (patterns...) on faces of items.

we had one of those, it was very cool tho i was about 8 so i never learned to use it properly.. it was like a robot, it chose pens and drew on pieces of paper... yea ill shut up now...

yeah, the pen style plotters we had gave me nothing but trouble. Would normally ruin 2 sheets of paper before getting it working correct. But it was cool to watch it grab the different pens and zip the paper back and forth through the plotter
