Is it possible to add more materials in the Max material editor? If so please tell me how because 24 is not enough slots.Thx in advance.

Not possible....however you can merge a scene into you existing one...and the merged textures will remain when imported.

Ehm, I'm not sure if you posted this in the right place, probably should've been in the Help forum (?:o)

Anyway, as far as I know, it is possible to actively use more then 24 materials. Just reset a slot in the material editor (the material will stay in the scene). To bring the material back to the editor, in case you need to change something, just use the eye-dropper tool and select the material you want back (this can be done in the viewport).

and on top of LarsMartin good working suggestion, you can use muti mats... there is I believe no limit to this.. and it is in the worng section of the forum ;)

Well you can create your texture in the mat editor...then apply it to your object. Then override the mat editor slot back to a default mat.The texture you applied before over riding it...will remain in your scene. However if you need to fix something of that texture later...you pick the eyedropper in the mat editor[next to the material name box] and click the texture in the viewport ...and it will re-appear in the mat editor...so you can edit it....then apply your edited version again....

Change the material type from Standard to Multi\Sub-Object. The titles of the material in the list that drops down can be dragged on to your object just like a default material. The default number of sub materials is 10, but it can go up to 1,000. Is 24,000 materials enough for you :).
