Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum, I would like to first thank you all for making me feel welcome here:)
I'm interested in starting a CG FORUM sort of like the one we have here with threedy forums but of course with my own concepts.
I would like to find out how to start one of these forums, there is a lot of information I don't know, so I would apprieciate any and all help that you the community can provide for me.
Thanks for listening:)
Here are some questions that I'm interested in having answered:
1. I see some try to make a good cg forum site but are not as successful as ones like this, why do you think that is?
2. Are there people tending to this site 24/7? Is this a full blown business venture with officies ect?
3. Where do they get their information about the cg industry/interviews/articles? I notice they update quite frequently, how is this done so often and from so many different sources? Do they need any type of permission to post certain information/images on your website?
4. How do they go about getting advertising on their website? Did they approach these advertisers or did they approach them? Do they give them money for advertising on their website? If so how is this money used in relation to the website?
5. I notice they have people who moderate the forums; do they get paid to do that?
6. I notice that they are copyrighted (protected) I’m new to this, how is this done? Is there anything else you would recommend doing to protect the name of my company and the content on it?
7. I notice there are advertising, editorial and support people working with the company, what are the functions of these people/positions on a cg forum?
8. Is there anything else you think I should know before jumping into a venture such as a 3d website?
9. How would I go about getting important market information/statistics to find out whether there is a need for a 3d forum with what I’m offering?
I’m just starting out so it would be greatly appreciated if you could help by answering these questions or directing me to someone/somewhere/somehow that I can. Thanks for your time and consideration.
