heh,

glad you thought it was funny.

i just did it one frame at a time :). pencil tests in newtek aura, then cleaned up in painter 8. I have a couple other things, but i need time to get them rendered and uploaded. I'll post them later if anyone's interested.

That may be one of the strangest things I've ever seen...

Cool. :) I'm amazed at people who have the patience for animation (particularly hand-drawn animation).

Hi Guys,

here's another. Totally different technique, but similar 'theme'. Check it out, I think you'll like it:

SuperPowers (http://www.krbrown.com/MKIII/SuperPower.zip)

Not really, actually. But I consider AFX pretty intuitive. If you know photoshop, most of the 'effects' are the same, the rest is just workflow and setup. Getting started is kind of frustrating though, b/c it will take you 2 hours to try to find some of the neat tricks that someone could show you in like 3 min. I've always worked better with a quick "show me how" than reading tutorials. Just play around with masking and layers, the rest is more or less an offshoot of that.

Any more crits on the second one (super powers)? I thought you guys would have comments about that one :). Thanks for looking though! I'm glad that those who have commented have liked it!

I really liked the first one. I think the intro looses you a bit with the complete lack of motion until later on. I almost hit stop but was very glad I did not. When there was motion, the animation was done very well.

The VFX was pretty good too.

that was the point; to contrast the extreme difference. very boring to very extreme. but yeah, i did debate the length. when i asked around, though, people generally thought it was pretty good.

OK, I never post, but these two videos are awesome. This is some of the coolest work I have seen in a long time. Damn, it's good. I am speechless.

the second video is awesome. excellent work. the first video was way too slow. im not sure what prog you used but ive seen cheap flash animation more moving. now the second one. the second one completely owned. it has been saved and many of my friends will laugh and cry when they see the vfx you have produced in that vid. please come with more of the second. i will be a huge fan^^ nice job

heh,
i'll keep that in mind next time i take three months to draw a traditional animation :). but i don't really know if the point was to be 'moving', just goofy really. i see where you're coming from though.

i won't have anything 'new' done anytime soon, pretty busy at work right now. hopefully by the end of summer. i'll be sure to post just for the fun of it.

i haven't posted this one yet though, nothing too spectacular, but what the hay, maybe you'll like it:

just downloaded the 3rd one you posted. i didnt mean to be so harsh by raining on 3 months of traditional animation work. sry :(
well ill let you know what i think after i watch it. i meant to say that part in the second avi where your friend stomps the ground is insane. it resembles the work in I-Robot preview where the bot falls from the sky or jumps out of a window(not sure) but hits the ground with so much force he sends ripples and cracks all throughout the floor in the whole scene. if you havent seen it check it out.

No worries, not a problem at all. I very much appreciate any feedback. I certainly don't expect everyone to like my stuff, and knowing what people don't like will help me next time around. currently I'm very fortunate to be working on a LotR mmorpg. which takes up quite a bit of my extra time. At any rate, I appreciate the comments! I really hope to have something new by the end of summer, I just have to motivate myself

lotr mmorpg. sounds like a lot of fun. i was wondering how hard it was to pick up some of those animation skills you have. you know like the learning curve. that stuff is awesome and i would love to do some stuff like that with my vids

Brerchaos

Timing is essential, and even after a while of animating, I'm still far away from being 'good'.

For me anyway, animation has kind of a large learning curve. Largely because the best way to learn it is to do it, and for anyone who's tried it, they realize it gets very tedious very quick. It's also a relatively long process. Hours and sometimes days for a minute or so of results. Maybe the act of animating isn't too hard to learn, but results can take a while.

my arch nemesis is time. my sub nemesis is motivation :).

But i was actually thinking it could be really cool/fun to offer a 'service' where if someone wanted a super power, they could shoot some stuff on a digital camera, send it to me, and I'd add the power that they wanted. haha. the only thing i'd need is a shot of the action, a blank shot of the scene, and a front, back, and side pic of the person. I have a feeling my 'nemesi' would attack me full force though. Maybe someday.
