I am really shocked!
Who might have done this? I mean, nothing was stolen, but everything was destroyed. It must have been someone who had something against 3D Total.
But why? I think there aren't any offenses on 3D Total, are there?
It must have been someone who knew that the whole team was away, i think, but you said no one knew that...
Thats really strange, i hope the local police will find out something soon!
I am very glad the site is back soon. Good job 3D Total Team!

That is outright malicious!! I can imagine somebody breaking in for equipment, but to sabbotage all backups like that sounds much more personal! Well, I'm personally glad you guys are back; hope you find the perpetrators and time to get some zzzzs!!

I just don't get it... why why why should someone do something like that?
can anyone find any good reason?
I hope the police finds the criminals and that capital punishment is allowed where you are :D
I'm glad that the information and all the hard work weren't lost at least, but I really hope we won't see anything like this again on any 3d-site.
OMG! It's incredible that somebody could be this malicious. I agree, it seems like a personal vendetta against 3DTotal. I'm glad that you're back and congratulations on the quick recovery.

WTF! This obviously seems to be a personal attack on the 3DTotal team's work and livelihood. How can ayone find offence with this website? The forum moderators are observant of any malicious actions on the Threedy.com forum threads, but 3DTotal.com itself is, in its simplest form, a collection of hyperlinks to the hard work of others.
I'm afraid in England we dont have capital punishment, bumbi, but this seems insane! Is there a history of 21st century Ludites near you, Tom, or have they targeted your servers in the knowledge that they contained the information for 3DTotal.com?
I'll end by offering you my most sincerest apologies to a team that has offered a free, top quality website for several years.
Lckily the Threedy.com servers weren't hit, there must be gigabytes of information on the threads...
Please keep us informed of any changes of circumstances, Tom, as I for one would like to see how our judical system reacts to such a mindless attack on property.

Just noticed in the photos the fax, comuter, monitors, etc are left intact. Are these at your home or have they solely attacked the data storage devices.
Maybe it was somebody whose picture wasn't accepted for the 3DTotal gallery....

Are there any rival 3d sites based near by that might have something to gain by trashing your stash?
I can't think why anybody else would be so definite about the way stuff was wrecked. Doesn't seem mindless to me. Definately a purpose in there somewhere.
Anyhoo!! I'm glad you're back up and running and way impressed at how quick you managed it. I but the perps are sick now. Possibly got themselves some decent jail time (at least they'll be doing meals on wheels for eternity) and ultimately for nothing.

it's a sad day when a bunch of perps feel they have to sabotage and vandalise the hard work of others :(
i'd like to say a huge "THANK YOU" to Tom and the team for getting 3DTotal (best 3D site out there) back online so quick, and I'm sure there are countless people all over the world who feel the same. You guys deserve a second vacation imho
and good point from miguel - defo keep some extra backups in other safe places ie at home, at a solicitors, in a safety deposit box etc etc. it seems you cant be too careful these days
good work guys and cheers

Insane. Until these (insert expletive of choice) are caught we will never know for sure why they did such an evil and malicious thing. To attack and destroy someone else's livelihood with such lack of restraint really is evil. No amount of provocation could justify this kind of attack.
I hope those sickos left behind fingerprints. I'd love to hear about them getting arrested. Please keep us appraised of the progress of the police investigation. And if you get a hand on any photographs of them please share with the class. I've always wanted to do a portrait of Satan in 3D.
The best regards to you, Tom and your amazing team of Ben and Chris. 3DTotal is by far the best site out there bar none.

seems very odd that anyone would want to do such a thing, its difficult to gain anything from shutting a site, very bizarre indeed. anyway lets not ponder on a bad time and look forward to the all the cool stuff 3dtotal brings us. huge sympathies to Tom and his team and a big thank you for all your hard work, i'm sure its very much appreciated by everyone (apart from those burgular motherf#ckers!)

I can't imagine why someone (or people) would want to do this. Such a great site. 3Dtotal was the first site i came across when i first started 3D over 3 years ago.It def helped me get started in 3d. I would have to say it would have been a loss to the 3d community to lose such a great site. sure glad you guys made it back online.

I agree with all, this was pure hate and evil!
I'm sure the detectives will find who has done this and why.
You guys have shown much courage and the will NOT to be defeated!
This can be turned into something good as well. Many lessons learned I'm sure with this. Off-site backups, servers, better physical security, etc. I'm sure will all be considered.
God bless all of you fine people at 3Dtotal and to all that helped or offered to help! I offer mine as well, being a systems anaylst for 10 years, I know servers, PC's, backups, etc. the works!
Just goes to show you, we really are one big happy family and families look out for each other!

I must say, I suspect a competing internet site or company.
Most of the evidence points towards it.
First of all nothing (from what Ive heard) was stolen just damaged. A common criminal/vandal would steal something as there is a lot of expensive equipment needed to run a server.
Second they seem to have targeted only the backup disks and hard drives this means they were set out to damage the 3DTotal site not the server and equipment. A common vandal would destroy everything there would be holes in the wall and broken windows.
Any way, I'm glad to see this site up and going again.
Good work and Good luck finding those F:grr::grr:king creeps.

I Don't Understand Why Would They Do This........
But Whoever Did This Want You All To Go Down Very Badly.
If I Were Them, I'll Just Take The CD And Harddrive And Throw Them Away, Its Just So Much Easier !
Whats With The Stay There Take Your Time.........Glue Glue Glue...Damage Just Enough Of The Harddrive To Taught You Guys...Whats With That ?
Who Ever Did This Is No Normal Destroyer, He Planned This.
Because It Requires That He Had Some Base In Computers To Know What To Destroy[The Connector In The Harddrive] And How So That The Things Stays But Rendered Useless.
[And They They Love To See Your Expressions I Guesses...]
This Is Not The First Time Right ?
The Past "Site Down" Situations ?
Who Knows All These Things At The Same Time Each Time The Site Is Down ?How Come He Knows When To Strike ?
And This Person Knows "EXACTLY" How Long You Will be Away So That He Can Take Time Destroying It In The Most Creative Ways....This One Is A Very Close "Friend".......

I have to say that the lack of theft or other vandalism has bitter wife or ex-girlfriend written all over it.
Any theif would know that by doing what they've done, they're already into a whole pile of trouble, might as well make off with some hardware and make some money at it while you're in it.
A wife or exgirlfriend probably feels justified about damaging something that her former man cared about as much or more than her, but doesn't want to do anything illegal, so didn't take anything and has no connections to unload it if she did.
My advice to you, buy new toothbrushes and don't eat anything in the fridge. That's the other kind of crap overly emotional ex's do.
It looks like it was an inside job. Whoever did it knew how to take out a hard drive, knew that you back up to cd and where they're kept, and knew when you'd be away. If it wasn't a wife or ex-girl, have you fired any employees or split with any partners early in the project that are jealous of the success.
Hopefully you have some evidence. CDs are probably remarkably good surfaces for holding finger prints. Glue certainly is. The trick will be getting the police to put any resources and effort into that sort of thing. When my girlfriend's car got stolen and we recovered it, we were expecting the blue baground lighting and the CSI team to show up. "Hi Grisam". They don't do that kind of stuff. Too much time and cost and cars are stolen by the hundreds every day and B&E's are probably the same.

....something i forgot to ask in my other post earlier.....
Has the break-in and vandalisation affected the production of the 3DTotal Texture CDs? It would be an even more bitter blow if the work done on those had been destroyed as well

28-05-2004, 06:50 AM
the one thing i dont get is how come the vandals didn't just take the hard drives and that and burn them or summat? were they trying to gloat by leaving all the stuff there damaged? well it backfired you pathetic a*seholes!

Absoloutly unbeleivable, i've been a 3D total visitor for nearly the full 5 years now, and it has to be one of the best 3D communities on the web. Its amazing anyone would want to try and destroy that. Tom, I'm so glad you managed to get it all back.
It's certainly made me think about the backup systems we have in place.
Keep up the good work, hope you catch the culprits.

Damn, somebody really hates you people. This sounds like something I would see in a movie. I can just see the people planning this around a rickety table in a smoky basement somewhere. Hay, if they used a lot of super glue, couldnt you check local office supply stores for purchase records? Its not exactly a buy everyday item.
I am glad and surprised to see the site back up this soon. This is yet another testament to off-site backups. Was that the case, or where the drives un-deleted/recovered?
Anyway, excellent job! Hope you catch the *******s.

I registered specifically to post in this thread... that's how upset this has made me. This goes beyond vandalism... when you try to kill the IDEA of the site, and the spirit and community of the people that come to and enjoy this site... that's wrong in the highest regard. I hope they get caught, and they throw the book at them in court. I seriously hope they do hard time.
Good luck to all of you, and to the community as well. I'm glad to see you all survived.

When I especially see that glued CD's, I'm REALLY FURIOUS TO THAT STUPID PEOPLE... I've lots more respect for you guys of the staff... Today you're my heros! Serious!
I don't know what's wrong last time with CG communities; last week CGTalk.com was also hacked; now this also....
Just two words: **** HAPPENS....

Glad to see 3DTotal back up and running Tom, this has been a shocking incident, and I hope you find the people responsible for this.
Best wishes to all the team.
I'm shocked that it happened. I've heard that similar CG sites were sabatoged as well. I don't really know for sure, but I heard from some friends. (3Dbuzz GFXArtist CGTalk)
Glad to see that they didn't accomplish what they wanted, unless they wanted to scare the community.
I would distribute the backups to some of the moderators that are highly trusted, and hopfully out of country, so you can always have a backup somewhere that would work, but I guess you did something like that, because the site is just like I remember it.

I don't think the police will understand or apreciate that the data on the disks are priceless, they will probably just treat it as break in and entering. Unfortunate, but what do they care.

Well first of all this was very disturbing news to me as it brought about the question, 'are there no limits to jealousy?' obviously not. Now I noticed that you said that very few people knew that you were leaving the studio, which can only leave to options. 1) the person(s) staked out the studio and waited until you left, which is very unlikely as this means that they could have been waiting their for the last few months. and 2) the people that did it knew that you were going to be away and thus means that it was either one of the 3D Total staff (GOD FORBID!!) or somebody else that knew and who the staff believed they could trust and apparently couldn't.
Also one thing that we need to remember is that their is competition in between the communities, and their are wars that go on between them as well. Now mostly this is usually only flame the other community and try to steal their information or members, however nothing was stolen and their was no lead to any other CG community. So this means that either they had contacts inside of 3D Totals staff or somebody that knew about it and that they wanted to eliminate the competition. After 3D Total is in my opinion the best CG network on the net, alongside 3D Buzz (they have free VTM's =/ hard to compete)
Maybe these are just meaningless ideas but for anybody that cares, this might be of some use =) Good luck and all the best to the 3D Total team :halo:

Phew!
*wipes sweat of brow*
I'm happy as a bunny that you're back :D
I must be repeating what has already been said, but this seems too well planned and methodological to me to be just a hateful act. Somebody really was after your site, your job. Also resently Cgtalk got hacked and lost.. was it a week worth of data(?). You got hit much worse and still made it. My hat is of for you!
I was hoping my first post to be something noticable in WIP section.. but figured word of support is more than a reason for a post

Tom, I always think about the security of my future studio and website. With a weekend guard and some additional hard drives only for weekly backup or per 2 days (I mean to copy all of data on them and then to bring them to home).
Just I'm in wonder about security alarm, doesn't have alarm/siren?

Woot, im glad you survived a stupid attack by ppl that would do this. I really hope you catch whoever did this really idotic attack.
But i really hope the attackers didnt get something vital that might be overlooked. Even thought they might have deleted alot of stuff, they might have downloaded things. And even if they destroyed the hadward, they might have thought that it would of hidden what they might of been looking for. So i really hope that its not even more serious than than what it does appear.

Thank you everyone for this incredible response, it really is good to know there is such a huge amount of support behind us. Running an internet business such as this you rarely get a proper feel for the amount of people who use 3DTotal as we just stare as numbers in log files to show the visitors and in a way it almost doesn't seem real but when we get this amount of messages of support in just a few hours (and the same amount again in emails) it really gives us a morel boost and helps provide the drive we need to build the site, products and services to new higher levels.
We have absolutely no idea who is responsible for this sabotage and I must also ask for no further speculation to be discussed here. The police have information to work on and I will post news as and when it happens as long as it doesn't affect the investigation.
All I can say is thanks again and let everyone know this attack really has had the opposite results to those intended as we now have more determination than ever to expand 3DTotal, hire more staff and produce the best possible site and products for the CG community.

Im glad the site is back up. Its a great site that I go to daily to get all my 3D fixings. I can't help it Im addicted. I didn't know how bad my addiction was until the site was down for more than two days. I was jones'n man. This was obviously a personal attack by someone not very bright (the thing with the hard drive power was just weird, that doesn't destroy data??) but I digress.
However, a lesson could be learned here for all of us. Make weekly backups of your important data and lock them in a safe place, perferably a safe. This is a must for a virtual business like 3D Total. At my place of business we back up our site and workgroup server weekly with Data Tapes and keep them in a 1300 degree proof safe that weighs about 600lbs. Not only is this a good idea to protect against vandals but would also protect against other things that could potentially destroy everything (Fires and Floods come to mind).
Here's to 3DTotal coming out on top. Hazzah!!

I'm sooo pissed off about this, but hey, the worst thing that could have happened to these *******s is to see that now everything is back online and almost as if nothing had happened. So their sabotage failed that's it.

An advice we learned at informatics tech school, about "exception situations": keep the backups far from the system.
We consider situations like fire, flooding, eletrical damage, robbery and depredation.
I donīt know, but here in Brazil, these last two items is kind of common, so itīs a topic to be learned.
Keeping backup files remmotely guaranties some more information protection.

Wow....I have to say that this has been a great shock for all the fans of 3d Total. If anything this site has provided top quality artwork, a free on-line opportunity to learn great stuff and has earned its place among the best !!
And now this !!!! An outrage, I really do hope police finds out what really happened and I'd like to see the people responsible punished. Glued cd's !!! I mean what the @#$% !!!!! This is such an unbelievable act, a total dis-respect to the great amount of work these people have produced.
A big bravo though to all the 3d Total team for being right back out here in no time and making your own stand. We're here with you guys, supporting you in this all the way. Long live 3d Total.:ufo:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's looks insane. This is not ordinary vandalism. There would have been much better ways to destroy your data. Glue CDs? They could just have taken them away! Damage the hard drives? They could have take them away or burn them! It seems that "they" or "him" or "she" were trying to leave a message for you. Some kind of revenge maybe. Anyway these "people" are not professional vandals, they made too little damage... I find all of this weird.
Have you ever considered installing an alarm system?
But on the other hand it's great to have the best 3D site online again. Good luck guys! Never give up!

There are some really messed up people out there... :(
Now, some place like SlashDot, EatPoo, etc. Some place that is widely known or that has a reputation for being offensive, I can see that someone may go to this great of lengths to destroyed. (That doesn't make it right, mind you, it just seems more feasible.) But 3DTotal? Why? All this site has ever done is try and help people become better with 3D modeling, and show off some of the excellent work that's out there. The most offensive thing on the site is probably nude WIP models that show up in the forums from time to time, but even those are generally accepted as a artistic and a normal step in the modeling process.
I love 3D Total! It's one of the few sites that I check at least once daily! I fail to understand why ANYONE would go to such great lengths to destroy a site that is so good intentioned.

This is sad,
BUT you know, it's bound to happen, for example if you have a nice looking car and drive it out of your garage then your bound to have something happen to it by a jealous fool who cant stand to see something better than theirs.
Next time I do recommend putting it up on a remote ftp.
Whoever did this is an idiot... let's take a look at the facts;
They didnt destroy other things... are you really that stupid to give your self off as being someone who hated 3D Total or someone that has to do with it?
They super glued cds together, why not just take the whole bundle and throw them threw a shredder?
They broke the pins off the hard drives... Oh wow, that'll take a whole two minutes to fix, it seems like someone just threw them and didnt actually realize that that happened.
All in all, I believe an x-girlfriend/friend did it. Why? Revenge, they obviously didn't know anything about computers or they would have taken the hard drives and opened them up and took the disks out and burned those and then thrown them into a shredder or stuck a magnet to it.

You know theoretically, you could have them walk through a powder, futher into your hallway spread a liquid that, in chemical reaction to the powder on their shoesoles, will lead to a glue effect, but this risks trapping either only shoes, or also a couple of neighbours.
Flypaper effect. Spiders get caught too.

Hi everybody!
Iīve been reading this site for about 1,5 years now, submitted some pics to this great gallery, even written a making of for this fantastic site and profited so much from all those other tutorials, reports etc.
Last but not least I enjoy those Texture CDs a lot!

Iīm really sorry for you guys! If thereīs anything that we can do for you, Iīm sure you will get all the help you need.

Foreword: (My appologies in advance, this was not intended to become a political gripe, it's just the only example that I could think of, that everyone (no matter what their geographic location may be) has at least a little knowledge of current events, besides, I'm pissed and needed to vent. Hopefully, you can understand my frustration, even if you disagree (although I'm only mentioning things that are FACT, reference can be supplied, if wanted).
How f#@&ed up can someone's life be, that they think it better to spread more negativity in this world.
This is a Site I've been frequenting for about 3 years. I don't post much, but I usually stop by anywhere from 2-3x/Wk. - 2-3x/Day. This is one of the 1st Sites that I'd found, that had plenty of resources, for me to find what I was looking for, and a WHOLE lot more...for FREE!
This world just seems to be getting worse and worse. I mean, it seems as though politicians don't even care if people find the skeletons in their closets. Like they have a, "What're you gonna do about it?" attitude.
Here's an example: Aug. 4, 2001. Less than 1 month after 9/11, George "Dubbuh-Yuh" takes the LONGEST VACATION OF ANY PRESIDENT (he just barely beat his daddy's record) for OVER 1 Month. (Mind you, he has not even been Pres. for 10 months at this point).
Every job I've had, the vacation time works as follows: AFTER 1 year = 1 Week, 2 Years = 2 Weeks, 5 Years = 1 Month.
How the hell can he justify a 1 MONTH vacation, without even being on the job for a full year, let alone that it's Less than a month after the BIGGEST ACT OF TERRORISM TO HIT THIS COUNTRY EVER!!! If a president of even a small company tried this, HE'D BE FIRED, AT LEAST, but Bush doesn't seem to care what people think of his personal agendas.
Oh, That's right! George "Dubbuh-Yuh's" bestest family friends are the "BIN LADEN'S". Well, back in 1998, after the group led by Osama Bin Laden bombed U.S. Embasies is Eastern Africa, guess who came in & rebuilt them... "Bin Laden Construcion Co.", (at one Helluva Price tag too). The Bin Laden's are one of the most powerful families in the world. Why, in Why, they gave 'ol "Dubbuh-Yuh" his first Million to start up his first company (Do you think that makes him their bitch?).
I think that's enough for now (I don't even want to get started on the whole "IRAQ" thing, w/ the "PreEmptive" Attacks, and pointing the finger at Hussein (Don't get me wrong, he's not a nice guy, but He's a Dictator. A Dictator WILL NOT jeopardies his power for a terrorist).
I hope that people out there are as pist-off as I am. I you're not, then something's wrong with you.
Quickly, I'll go over the score in Iraq;
650 American Kids dead, Cover the tracks of your Financer's kid's responsibility, take down the Bin Laden's #1 Enemy (Hussein/Iraq), and make the Bin Laden's, Rumsfeld's, Cheyney's, AND the Bush's Richer.
Why not, just for an extra bonus, TROTURE THE NATIVES!?! YAY!!...yeah, then, when the **** starts rolling uphill, along comes a fanatic to save the day, decapitating a soldier, filming it, and releasing it. That was their ticket out of the hotseat!!!
Now, reward those who tortured & humiliated the Iraqi's!?! ---WTF?
For 3DTotal.com:
Also, I'm sorry your offices, Site, hard work, and Property were vandalized. At least you know ther're alot of people with your site still cached. I know that I've got copies of almost ALL of the models that were on the site (3ds,dxf, lwo, max, obj, ma, & mb) as well as Maya & painting tutorials (and other pages as well).
If any of your content turns out to be corrupt, don't hesitate to contact me. I'd have no problem uploading this back to you (I've already begun backing everything up, just in case).

Wow, that's quite a frustration my friend! Its quite obviouse the things go wrong all over the world. Why? No more spiritual values I guess. But frustration only brings more violence and rushed acts if not controled by a superior will. Solve the problem of the world? Nobody can do that; but you can change the things around you, your friends, your family, your neighborhood. Don't bear the weight of things you alone cannot make right. If everyone here, on this forum, will try to make things better for him and for everyone around him, the world stand a chance to become better.
As for your "3DTotal" collection cd's, well I cannot but congratulate you for this kind of clarvoiance.

Everthing and nothing. It has to do with the way everyone acts and reacts to any given situation. It's about our culpability for any situation. By LETTING things (in the world, in our own immediate surroundings, etc.) regress, we send a signal either that we don't care, or that we've surrendered (by thinking, "what can I do?" & coming up empty, is surrendering). Everyone of us can make a difference, we're just learned that we can't. In fact, it's our responsibility to do so. We all live in this world, take some responsibility.
Knowledge is the first step towards wisdom, but it can't be reached without experience & comprehension.
And, Avatar, I agree. By making the correct decisions in our immediate lives, we do start to change our surroundings. That's pretty much what I was trying to say, but I just made it on a global scale.
Alot of things that WE have allowed to happen, will be biting us in the @$$. Such as this whole "Homeland Security".
It sounds like it might be a good Idea, but it's not. It's allowed governments and businesses to invade our privacy by way of our computers.
Has anyone gotten some really nasty spyware in their systems lately?
Thanks to Mr. Bush (as well as the rest of us who live in the USA), we can get these nasty little *******s on our systems that can go in, change our reg. settings, set new privacy policies, override our own security software, etc. (I had this one for 2 weeks, that only 1 out of 8 spyware Apps I D/L'd detected, but couldn't remove it correctly for a couple of days.
These are all things that will add to the prosecution of the "Innocent", while letting the real criminals run around, comitting crimes, so they can be the justification for the prosecution of anyone desired.
We no longer have any rights. We have accepted "Priveledges" in exchange.
(If you try to limit or bind a right, it becomes a "Priveledge".
These may be uncomfortable things for some to read about, even more so to discuss, but by doing so, you end up making a difference.
(Thanx, and excuse me, I didn't mean to turn this into a change of topic or anything)

"Think for yourself. Question authority. Throughout human history, as our species has faced a frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are or where we're going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic confused vulnerability to inform yourself."

It's a sad thing that my first post ever on this forum is on regards to this. But I just think it the least I can do: Offer some positive feedback and my personal experience with this great 3D web portal.
I've frequented this site on and off for over three years now I think, sometimes on a weekly or even daily basis. I watched it grow, change front page design, and add more and more great artists to its member list. I gratefully take it as a source of inspiration to my still novice approaches at 3D and also as a place to come and learn from great artists and even better human beings.
I've made friends all over the world thanks to this site.
It's a community, a school, an art gallery, a place for people to show off or admire and offer constructive criticism to those who are starting in on the wonderful world of 3D or as is my specific case, that don't have much other options to gather information and slowly learn from your forums and tutorials more and better ways to do things in 3D and hone my skills. (In my country there's yet to be set up a formal learning center to which I can turn to and properly learn 3D apps and techniques).
3D total also keeps me up to date with current events in all Medias related to 3D (like other great community sites that don't need to be listed here). And thus I greatly enjoy the privilege of watching just how far an artist can go with creativity, skill and sometimes a very small budget. It's just inspiring.
It's obviously also a source of income (and why not, no one in this world can go on doing things for free and just for the love of it for very long) to those who put so much effort in making this site what it has been, and thankfully, still is.
I won't dwell into what could possibly have motivated the atrocious and obviously well planed attack. Be it a vendetta, unlawful and malicious competition, simple sick jealousy or whatever.
All I can say is thank God that you where able to maintain your doors open, and the loss and anguish were only temporary. For finally, the ones who are most benefited from your quick wits in confronting this problem are all the small folk like myself, who find this place to be an important source of knowledge and inspiration.
Thank you for keeping up the effort, stay strong.
I wish you nothing but more success in your path of enterprise and sharing.
Your friend in Costa Rica

jmagness: I saw a bumper sticker the other day that you would have liked. It said, "Like Father, Like Son - One Term!" I want one! :D FWIW, I agree with you, too. Not gonna say anything else about it, though, otherwise my rant will probably end up longer than yours. ;)
3DTotal: Keep us updated on how you guys are doing.

This is sad news indeed about the incident I just came online after my tonsilactomy. I am glad that you guys are back on your feet. I am sure it is only one problem solve for i know how much of your own resources will be spend needlessly (new hardware/setup fees) for the community you have going here. It can only mean you guys are sincere.
I think data is invaluable and sometime priceless therefore it might be prudent for you to invest on a DVD burner and start burning them and have a duplicate stored in another place away from the logical place. I guess you can say place em in an illogical place where no one will suspect at all.
All in all it will be wise not to be angry now for anger will only burn more energy. the energy that u cant afford to waste especially now.
I always believe if there is still breath in you, you can always make it happen much better than before. Maybe its time to change certain espect of 3Dtotal that you felt need adjusting? Well you can do it now since it seem it is like a new rebirth for 3Dtotal.
Just like a phoenix you rise from the ashes to be stronger and better!
All the BEST i am very sure 3Dtotal will be a site to behold in the coming days!!

Tenbatsu! Damn not only did they destroy all your backups specificaly they also left them behind for you to discover so you'd know that was what they where after. It's like something from a stereotypical detective TV-show.
Good things they haden't trashed the drives themselves and great save fixing the connectors with paperclips, saved you alot of time (and money) from sending the discs to manufactor/recovery companies. Nedless to say it would be a good thing to keep backups at another physical location in the future. Hope you'll find who did this.
Hello there you guys, this is my first post on 3d total, I've just read the news.... BAD, BAD, BAD...... It is a shame that people want to destroy someone else's way of living....I consider 3d total one of the best web sites over the net. I've learned from it... ENVY is the word to look for. Only people who knew you guys....Prove them wrong by working harder and making lots of interesting stuff like the one's you've been doing....Hope you recover everything.
My Best wishes.
