just workin on resolutions and stuff and trying to remove captions for icons (since i know what they are :p) i discover that you cant =/ is there a way to
1. change caption text colour or
2. remove caption text altogether
(preferably the latter)
i did look on google but couldnt find anything.
This is what I do, not really what you want, but it works. :)
I make a wallpaper in photoshop that has all the icons already on it, and then I map the icons as button links. It works pretty well. I don't have My Computer (cuz its in my start menu). I think that needs a special link command, but I think thats not hard to find.
And if you really want it to look cool. Make it in flash :D
It works on 98-XP because of Active desktop, that lets you display webpages on your desktop.

hey that sounds cool ill try it :)
Just found a new app you might like. AveDesk. Works great. Takes a while to configure, but it makes big icons from .PNG files and you can make them run anything and they look great.

they don't really show a screenshot so let me show you one.
Oh ya, one more thing. You can get some nice premade png icons by searching for ObjectDock icons and http://www.wincustomize.com has some good ones too.

cool thanks! i take it ur into the whole desktop customisation thing 2?
Yep. I searched all over the net for things to make my windows less like a windoes. I made my "start" menu say "menu" instead. I downloaded nemerous shells but none of them change the actual skin of windows though. :(
Oh, and don't forget to save customization, otherwise it will forget what you told it. :D

you might wanna look into something called black box, a freind told me about it. apparently its a shell but i think it changes the skin aswell :)
I tried black box, but I had no luck with the skin.
I think i found a way to skin XP for free. (might work with other windows.)
I found this thing called UXTheme.DLL pack, and it is supposed to allow windows to use any theme. I think that means skin themes, so I'm going to try it out and post to see how it turns up.
If anyone else wants to try it, its here http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/9/3/9-3-8.shtml but read the readme before continuing, its a little complicated.
