i also think england should've won becasue it was a fluke, france's first goal (gerard's dumbass mistake), and beckham's missed penalty after that france just had the psychological advantage. overall england played better

so honestly, all your super teams have just performed like crap, we have spain who scored ONE goal, france 2 goals by one man, portugal ONE goal, England ONE goal and italy NO goals, then of course, we have sweden who by far played the most entertaining game of all Euro 2004, with a crushing 5-0 against Bulgaria, now you're probably going to start talking about Bulgaria being a bad team but they aren't, in any case 5 goals in the opening game, even impressed me, I think sweden can go really far this time, as Zlatan has evolved and Larsson is back (did anyone catch his 2-0 goal, the header? wow), then we have Edman who's a great right back, two strong defenders in the middle, Ljungberg on the left, Wilhelmsson on the right and then Mikael Nilsson as right back, sweden team is hot this year, no doubt, so forget your henry, zidane, beckham, figo whatever, time to give sweden some recognition

I have to say though, this tourney has definitely gotten off to a slow start, Sweden definitely played the most entertaining game so far.

France - England started well, the first half was great, but come second half and the England side stated mothering their precious one goal. I sat there thinking:

"We're letting France get a good attacking momentum, if they score, we won't be able to get back from it."

Lo and behold! Zidane boots in a cracking free kick, and England panic.

I hate football. I used to like it, but not anymore. And if I still did. I wouldn't support England, or any other nation in euro 2004. I'm not english. I'm British:P. I got Irish, Scotish, and English blood in me. I don't want to deny either of those lines by calling myself one over the other.

well they scored 5 goals in 5 DIFFERENT ways, which means they can attack in multiple ways, england would probably not have scored 10 goals against bulgaria, more like 1 or 2...
anyways, we're up against italy tomorrow and I get your point, Bulgaria doesn't have a particulary good defense, but my guess is, tomorrow, Sweden will play 2-1, or 2-2, unless trappatoni plays with fiore, gattuso, pirlo and cassano instead of del piero from start, in that case I believe italy will win, it's all speculation really, but 5-0 against any team that's qualified this far is impressive, there's no denying that and to say your team that lost a 1-0 lead to 1-2 in two minutes would score ten goals, isn't really that likely ;)

The problem with England is that when they get ahead they are so busy smiling and joking with each other that they forget some teams actually fight back when they are down than just curling up in a ball and waiting for the final whistle.

I think tonight’s England match will be 2-2 or 3-2. England will probably go ahead early and then get sloppy and complacent as normal

I didnt get to see the whole match I had to leave for my nightschool class just after half-time. Someone gave us the score 3-0 during the lesson and I thought he was lying. Switzerland looked very strong at the start of the match I was sure one of those corners would lead to goal.

Interesting tactic to kick the goalie in the hand and slow him down a bit. I wonder if they will try the same in the next match :P
