This is my very first work in 3ds max! It was made in 3ds max5.
What do you think?
A good simple start - maybe look carefully at textures next time ;)
EDIT: I meant especially the grass, the actuall Tees look very nice!

Nice start
but do not use real photo in the background
use simple background that you draw it in photoshop
or any other paint program

jeez septerra, just rip apart the blokes feelings why dont ya! you should take into consideration it is his first piece of work!
its not that bad. i mean, the only thing i could do first hand was like...make a few spheres and other simple objects and assemble them to resemble something!

Lord Septerra
I found nothing constructive in your first comment. It was rather rude. Try to take care in what you say in future crits.

I understand your disliking for Lord Septerra's comments, but please hold back on the childish name calling in the future.

..just tone down youre posts, read before you post.
for a first work its great, he can only improve from here. i mean my first work was probably a cone in floating black space..he has an object he made, textures, and put in a bg..his own or not, its still a scene. whenever somebody comes to a thread and just writes "i dont like it, the only thing good is the bg he didnt make", the thread just turns out to be a fight, and the person doesnt get any critiques or comments, aside from the negative, non helpful bs post. i know you took another look and made some more uplifting comments, dont know why you posted your/somebody elses image though..kinda shows no respect of his thread, if you want to post yours/somebody elses work..go to the 2d gallery and create your own thread. also use edit post instead of posting several times in a row. Hope that helps you out, before everybody considers you a complete ass, and disregards any further comments.

understood ;)
A problem I see a lot here on threedy is that threads with arguments get tons more posts than those where the person could really use some help, or even a brilliant piece is being shown off. If you have nothing good(/useful) to say, then dont say anything at all. Even though sometimes it seems like there is a general niceness around threedy compared to some other forums, bashing the persons work doesnt make them better, it just gets them discouraged and makes other people mad. This also isn't a random spot for religious fervor... Anyways after adding this somewhat useless post...
Mr. m : very interesting choice of colors for your tees :) Did you make them using splines and the lathe modifier? Just keep practicing and no matter what anyone says you'll see yourself improve.

Have to agree with Sarn....turning a post into and argument fest dosen`t help the thread starter in any way.For all we know...he`s probably discouraged now....and might not return.
Nobody`s first ever piece of 3d is a masterpeice....but it`s something were all proud of and want to show it off. It`s a common thing to create something and want to get feedback. We all do it....otherwise why would we be here in the first place.
Anyway....Mr. M....I hope you stick with your 3d..you`ll get better and better with every try....trust me.I didn`t have the nerve to post anything till I was well into my 2nd year of doin 3d.Hell....my first 3d peice was a sphere sittin on a box...and wasen`t even textured.....and I thought it was the greatest thing.I knew it stunk....but I was proud of it and that`s what mattered....:)

Just to give my one cent worth of comments :
The purpose of this forum is for pple to c & c on our work. The crits would and must help us to further improve on the model and also enable us to know views of others. The comments would encourage us and surge us on producing better work in future.
You can don't like the work itself but you must respect the work of other. That's the bottomline.
After saying all this, mr.m, you could try out some of the tutorials in 3dcafe or 3dbuzz. Familiarise the software function and learn the modelling principles.
cheers!

I am well into my second year, and I still don't feel I'm good enough to post my work on forums. Posting to my site allows me to
share with friends/family, but against these incedible artists, I am petrified.
The reason I am nervouse to post is because of that jerk-off Lord-something-not-worth-remebering who makes it hard to get real honest
feedback which makes you feel like trying harder and harder, keep up the good work, and cudos to you for having the courage
to post your work

carry on posting and no doubt you will improve.

flip it upside down and then look again.
