Hi all, firstly, not to sure if this belongs here, however it refers to a lot fo work in this section, hence why I post here..

I think my teqnique may be wrong for modeling cars, I build a low poly cage (in maya) - then when happy with the base, switch it to meshsmooth to see how it looks..

This all looks nice and high res, but it looses a lot of the harder edges that I detail up, bumper parts etc, and the square lights then turn to circles etc..

Also the biggest problem, is how to you make the lines in the car so good looking (as in the bonnet seperator from bonet to wing)
and the doors etc..

How is this done? - can somone please aid me in where i go wrong?

Thanks a lot in advance..

Hello, I think you should follow a car tut to get an idea about how to model one. There is a very good tut on 3dtotal, the fiat car tutorial that explains how things should be done! Your post should be in the help section of the forum but I guess nobody minds if you posted here:)

good luck with your car

Take it from whom has struggled for long...

Here (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4148) is a good thread on Subdivision techniques an on how you make MeshSmooth work in your favour.

And This (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7416&perpage=15&highlight=door&pagenumber=3) is the best tut on door seams you'll ever find. It suits hood&trunk as well.

Good luck;)
