Im currently workin on this airship. I know it looks like a boat but its because I havent made the balloon/wings. I would love to upload the concept drawing but its so messy that not even me can recognize it!lol

i aint no expert but im finding it hard to work out the scale of the ship, proberly coz it aint textured yet. Other than that looks real nice
07-07-2004, 01:22 AM
I think it looks really nice!:D

Sorry guys Im always busy and I dont get much time to model this ship. But anyway heres the pic:

Good work chokin!
It remembers me some flying ships of the Final Fantasy games. I like it alot, and nice concept, keep it up :)

Looks very cool... Are you using e light?
10-07-2004, 04:05 PM
Yeah Im Using E-light.
Do u guys know where abouts I can get some rope textures?
10-07-2004, 04:09 PM
thanks IceQube. Im using E-light and a spotlight. The render time is long ass now..
10-07-2004, 07:38 PM
Wow man its looking better and better... Very cool. Whats the poly count and render time of that thing?
10-07-2004, 07:41 PM
very cool man, looking forward to updates :)

flying ghost ship hehe
11-07-2004, 05:05 PM
Without the meshsmooth illiterations its like 120355 polygons. And it takes like 1 min and 47 secs to render it!
Yeah anyway here are some updates

Great modeling. Very cool concept.
Some of the ropes holding the lanterns appear a little rigid. I think I have a rope texture somewhere in my 4gigs of textures. A little trouble finding it though, but I'll keep looking.
A minute 47 sec. to render is a long time? Man....my system and software must really be a dinosaur:)
Keep up the good work:)
12-07-2004, 05:34 AM
ronrn what do u mean by rigid?
12-07-2004, 07:21 AM
This is a great model Choke, Actually the first time I saw it, It reminded me of the days when I use to play Warcraft 2 Online.
I used to get so mad and complain because I would get my but kicked because everyone always had to grunt rush me.
I got 2 question to ask. Im not sure but you might already have it in mind. Is the air ship going to have some kind of propeller on the back with huge wooden gears and all. I think that would be cool.
Also what program are you using. I read something in the thread called E light. Is that like Light Tracer, Or is it a different way to render in 3d max.
Just curious, I would like to find out about it.
Keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing this craft textured.

Im actually using 3Ds Max 5 for modelling/Rendering. And I dont think I ll add some propellers or massive ass gears.
Elight is a maxscript that generates a dome which has spotlights connected on each of its vertices. Its kinda like Skylight and it gives of soft shadows.Hers a screen shot of elight:
12-07-2004, 08:45 AM
Where can I get the script for e light.
Does it give you quicker render times than Light tracer.
Cause Light tracer, takes for ever.
12-07-2004, 08:48 AM
elight can increase the render time.I cant remember where i got it from. You can just search for it in google I think.

Someone wanted to see the wireframe?

I might start texturing this ship. So i made a logo for it:
12-07-2004, 09:21 AM
I rendered the meteor with a material that doesnt react with light and here is the result:
12-07-2004, 03:44 PM
but anyways i started texturing the balloon. Dont worry about the colour and the tex Im changing them later on....
12-07-2004, 03:49 PM
yeah as you can see I added some shagfur on the balloon and you can see the meteor logo that I made before...
12-07-2004, 04:20 PM
wow man, this is absolutly awesome... Keep coming with updates...
i love your modeling , but not the theme
